I have two EVGA 680 FTWs 4 gbs Vram.  I did not buy them at the same time.  I have them in an SLI on my X58 FTW M-board.

Here is the problem.  There is a 10 degree difference between them.  I could understand that but the one that runs hot is the second (lower) one that has nothing near it's fan unlike the top one.  I have them both on a auto fan curve in Precision X.

Am I missing something?  Logic tells me that the top card should be the hotter one.  I have not tried switching them yet but I am thinking about it.  Is there something else I should be doing?

Is this normal?  It has been at least a decade since I had an SLI setup so I might be missing something.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Switch them first. I've seen drivers that caused things to flip around. I would also see what card is set to run physx.

You should really set your own fan curve. I think that would help the problem a lot.

    My Laptop (GE63VR-7RF):
    -7700HQ.
    -16GB RAM.
    -GTX 1070.
    -128GB SSD.
    -1X 1TB 7200 spinny drive.

I have set my fan curve and it is a pretty aggressive one at that.  But the fan is locked at 80% and I am hesitant to load a BIOS fix that would void my warranty.

Oh you said it was set on the auto profile so I thought you meant default lolz.

My bottom card runs 1-2c warmer warmer. Make sure your Nvidia setting is set to SLI. Usually a 10 degree difference means your setting is on "Disable SLI".

Update:  SLI has always been enabled so I do not think that is it.  I changed the PhysX card from #2 to #1 and I will see if that does anything.
