I used to watch TV a lot in the 70's. Such great shows were on then. Now, there's mostly junk on TV. This is why I hardly watch it anymore.

I do like a few show but none of them makes me laugh so hard as the Hillbillies or fell kind of sad watching some of Little House on the Prairie
there just something about the way they did tv back then i can sit for hours and watch these shows but old movies i don't care for as much

I liked many of the shows. I especially liked cop shows. Swat, Police Story, etc. My favorite cop show was Starsky & Hutch. I even once owned a Gran Torino that was red with the white stripe. LOL.

i don't thing this time is so grate its good in some ways and bad in others
i think in family values it not the same as it was back then not all familys
and the think social media is getting out of hand
like when we have dinner we all sit at the kitchen table and we talk  when i go to a friends place they all sit were ever they want
or go and play there x-box
i love to do stuff out side but i cant do much
i just thing we depend on the pc and internet to much i know when my net goes down it sucks
my grandfather use to tell me such grate stories as what him and his friend did back when he was growing up
it seemed like a lot of fun
i think even toys were cooler back then
do kid even play with toys any more or do they get a gaming device when there born joke
i just think life had more meaning i think it started to go down in the 90s

but i am just jabbing i my not make any seance i was not born til the 90s so i dont know how it was
it just seems better to me  from tv shows the toys they had in the 50 tys 60tys and 70tys
and i think family were a lot closer
see back then you and your buds would get you machine guns and army stuff and play bf3 out side but now kids just sit on there butts
    for hours

    In some ways i would
and i know what you meant by how the treatment is going you think i am nuts

i like the pc and have fun on it but i  like doing things with the family and doing things out side a bit more
like when the last time you did a hand written letter to  to some one i bet you just text on your cell or email
like every one now days i never written one

i just think the way the world is or the way thinks are going true family values are not as strong

i know my friend thing my family in kind of geeky in the way we are

i bet if all the social media stoped and there  was no texting on your smart phones
    we all would go nuts
and as i said this is the way i feel

What's TV, I am on my 7th or 8th year of not having TV.
I do watch DVDs and have a lot of the shows you named.
I just got the complete series Hill Street Blues that I will start watching after I complete the 4th Season of NYPD Blues.
I have the last two Season of Dextor I still have not watch alone with a lot of others.
So glad I do not have to watch commercial advertisement anymore the number one reason I stop paying to watch them.

Take some of the old shows that ran for one hour, they ran for 45 to 50 minutes and today they run 35 to 40 minutes and the rest is all commercial advertisement.

the few decent shows of the last 10 years are.

    Bones
    Eureka
    How I meet your Mother
    Big Bang Theory
    Breaking Bad
    Burn Notice

Those are the only shows I can watch without feeling like I'm growing dumber

I have seen a few Bones and liked it, waiting for the complete Season to drop below $150.00 before I would get it.

Those are good shows and the 70's def have my faves. Try Barney Miller, MASH or WKRP in Cincinnati...those are great. As for the 80's id say give Night court and Cheers a shot. I haven't owned tv service since about 2006 cause the net has everything somewhere.

Late 80's Early 90's I was in the Golf.
I missed most of the US 80's TV.
I got back in the US around the time that the X-Files started and that with the Simpsons was my TV night.
I dropped TV a little after the X-Files ended and never looked back. I do miss the Simpsons though.

I'm actually watching quite a few shows. It really depends on age group and general interest.

I have a huge list of shows I have watched within the last 5 years that I enjoyed watching.
    Game of Thrones
    True Detective
    Fringe
    Archer
    Supernatural
    XIII
    Terra Nova
    The Event
    The Good Guys
    The Finder
    Hemlock Grove
    The Killing
    The Walking Dead
    Persons of Interest
    House of Cards
    Breaking Bad
    Merlin
    The Office (US version)
    Defying Gravity
    Happy Town
    Once Upon a Time
    It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia
    American Horror Story
    Continuum
    White Collar
    Lie To Me
    Prison Break
    The 4400
    Heroes
    24
    Dexter
    Leverage
    Alphas
    The Following
    Battlestar Galactica
    FireFly
    Arrow
    Revolution
    Torchwood
    Star Trek: Enterprise
    Warehouse 13
    Kyle XY
    Chicago Fire
    Lost

I've watched even more than that, those are just the ones I can remember at the moment... Back when I was about 10, my parents let me have a TV in my room and I would fall asleep watching Nick at night before they changed it over to TV Land. I loved watching all of those oldies, like:
    Happy Days
    Chips
    Cheers
    Taxi
    I love Lucy
    The Rocky and Bullwinkle show
    Bewitched
    The Adams Family
    The Munsters
    Leave it to Beaver
    The Dick Van Dyke show
    Speed Racer
    The Gumby Show
    The Pink Panther
    Quick Draw McGraw
    Popeye
All of the old looney toons
    Lassie

I love the old and the new shows. But we are actually in a awesome era for TV shows, since we can go back and watch any one of those shows anytime we want on the internet.

I'm sure every generation thinks the same.

Be thankful you were born in this generation.... Heck, If anything I'd wish I would have been born a couple hundred years forward. (If we still exist then).

I can't help but every time I read your post and see I find that your posts clueless of age.
    What is your generation?

Same as mine, late 80 early 90s kid.

nah rush is 22, he was born after the 90's started, he's of the generation that doesn't really remember what it was like before internet

    ^ Correct!

    That explains everything!
And from some of his posts I would have thought he was maybe in his late or early 60's

Hah, Now I'm wondering, Which posts gave you that idea?
