Great, just great. I do a Windows Update today and didn't notice that they had put an Nvidia Driver in the "important update" section. So it was downloaded and installed before I could stop the process. Seems to be working OK, but should I uninstall this driver and everything associated with it and then install the one from EVGA, or leave things be? I'm guessing they did this for their little Windows 8 rollout, BUT I DON'T HAVE WINDOWS 8, NOR DO I WANT IT ON MY SYSTEM! Right now, I would punch any MS weenie I came across!

I would not even bother with Windows 8 yet. I can only get it working on an ATI card right now.

FattysGoneWild You need to adjust settings for this don't happen again or in the near future. Oh no. This was a sneaky trick. I usually only install "important or critical" updates. Usually their driver updates are in the "optional" list. Well, they put this driver update into the "important" list and I missed it when I scanned down the list to see what was there this time. My bad. So I merrily start the update and about have a heart attack when, what do I see during the install, a driver update! Too damn late to stop the process too. Every time Microsoft has done a driver update for me, they've screwed up the system, although this time, things seem to be working OK. I had driver 306.23 already running and they changed it! Does the 306.97 driver have any issues, or should I go back to my previous driver anyone? I have a GTX 480 on WINDOWS 7 PRO, that I intend to keep a while Microsoft! captchadd, I don't have Windows 8, nor do I intend to install it. That's what pisses me off, like Microsoft assumes that I want to upgrade my OS in the future, so they helpfully update my driver. What idiots!

It did the same thing to me, I have it set to auto install important updates. So I get on this morning and have nvidia control panel, 3d vision crap, and no SLI. I guess this is my cue to try the new beta drivers.

Since updating to Windows 8 I now cannot play Skyrim in fullscreen mode and Windowed mode in my native resolution puts it slightly off the screen.
I have tried changing the .ini file but nothing works, even the borderless windows mod does not work.

I have windows 7. I manually checked for windows updates. It showed a nvidia driver but didn't show what version. I unchecked it. I was turning off the computer for the night but it showed an update waiting to be installed at shut down. I could not get it to go away. Uncheck it and it just comes back. What gives with that?

Right click on the update that you don't want and click hide. That will get rid of it for you.

I,ll give that a try. I decided to try that driver (306.97) with BF3. CRASH, it doesn't like it at all. I tried diferent settings and it didn't help. Thanks for the info.

306.23. I found the problem. With the new driver I can't use SLI, turned off it works fine and it run pretty good.

If u happen to be on win8 dont install the latest beta from nvidia, it will mess up your windows, but worked flawless with the default signed WHQL driver from nvidia.
