I bought two of these surge protectors from work for $14 each: I hear one of my "Mr. Know it all" coworkers say that CyberPower is "DA BOMB". 3600 joules of protection from a $14 product seems a bit too good to be true. I plan on having my home theater, secondary rig, and portable AC connected to the two of them. Am I risking my expensive hardware? Also, how does the warranty thing work? As in if a lightning strike knocks out everything connected to the unit, how are you gonna "prove" that it happened that way? So many doubts... and I don't have the funds to buy a battery backup. I heard great things about those pure sine wave battery backup units.

Mac_vista64 I'd spend 10x as much and use cyberpower UPS instead. http://www.amazon.com/Cyb...A-Tower/dp/B00429N19W/ I use 1000VA for home stuff and 1500VA for computer I need a money tree for that unit lol... however I am eying that exact one. DO WANT!

I have three of them; they're cheap and they work. We don't get many power surges here in California so I guess they work? :D I'm not sure how the warranty claim works since I never had one blow out on me.

Those were $19 at Fry's and since I work there I got them for $14 each (yay employee discounts!) Lots of thunderstorms here in darn Texas... I know there's little out there that will protect against a direct lightning strike...

xD Oh well, I guess I'll stick to these cheap surge protectors until I can afford it! Just hope lightning doesn't strike, and even if it does... doesn't take out my stuff. Did some research and asking around about CyberPower and they seem to be a pretty solid brand. Most people said it's better than APC and especially MONSTER lol.

APC used to be my first choice, but I didn't like how long their battery lasted compared to CyberPower. (Also Software & LCD Display I like better on the CP).

MmMmMmMm I will definitely get that CP pure sine wave unit now. I just haven't recovered yet from my recent Ivy Bridge + water cooling upgrade But hey at least I have an updated Mods Rigs now xD My coworker made fun of me for having a $3k system but can't afford a $100+ battery backup xD

I use the same surge protector (but in black) for my computer, tv and monitors. Got one of newegg for $15. They have great reviews but im not 100% sure how the money back thing works if something gets fried. But im sure its not a easy thing to prove. Ive had my power go on and off a few times during some storms and nothing seems to have been effected yet so im assuming its doing its job.

You don't need a pure sine for a UPS if it's just for the PC. Stepped sine is fine and it saves you money. I have the cheaper (black color) model of that surge protector I believe.

I got a couple older 330w / 550va Cyberpowers, and I use them for just surge protection. They work good for that. Sadly my models don't have a way to monitor the wattage so I have no idea what my systems are pulling.

I have one of those UPS's thats held up great over the years. Really would like to get a pair of the same things but in rackmount form for my servers. 1 for network stuff and the other for my servers themselves but man are the rack versions expensive!
