So I'm RMA'ing my current GTX 570 and I don't have a back up video card to keep me online while its gone. I'm just looking for the best and cheapest sub 100$ video card that would let me at least be able to Play Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft, Watch netflix, and browse the internet. I plan this card will take at least 1 week to get replaced and shipped back to me and i will just go bonkers without my computer lol.

Any thoughts on what would be the best, cheapest video card i could buy for a Backup when my main video card dies would be great. Would prefer as cheap as possible no need to break the bank on something i will only be using once in a blue moon. Current computer spec's below if wondering.  Thanks for the help.

Thing is, by the time you order one and get it delivered, you might as well just wait for your RMA card..  There is a $50 GT 240 on the EVGA B-stock list which may be good enough for short term. Also look in the EVGA marketplace - there's sub $100 cards popping up for sale all the time - something like a GTX 285 would certainly tide you over. Other than that, if you have a Microcenter locally, they will probably have something cheap you can grab immediately.

Ya, i live in the middle of nowhere lol the closest place to me is 45miles away and no real computer shops around there either. I couldn't wait so i bought a GT 520 on Newegg for 47$. It should be here wednesday shipping my current card out monday. Silly I own a kickass desktop but no printer. Have to run down to the library and get the RMA shipping paper printed off. The main propose really was just to have a backup for when my main card die's i don't get out much and i will go loony without at least something to do on my computer lol. I called tech EVGA's tech support to help me get a nice filler card just so i can browse the internet watch movies and check in on a few games nothing to crazy and wont break the bank. I'm just hoping the GT 520 is a good enough card so i can at least play SC2, no games for a week or more is going to be sooo boring lol. Thank's for the help!

Try this midget of a GPU ~ GT 640 ~ $109.99  then after ya get your 570 back you can use it as a dedicated Physx card or as a backup in the future.

I thought i couldn't use 2 cards of 2 different series together ie 500 + 600 series, I was going to something like that with my 570 and my old 470 but was told the 470 wouldn't work with the 570 and probly bring down the performance. Someone told me not to try it. Is there something different about that this midget GT 640 that makes it workable with a 500 series card?

tbh this card was my 1st plan on buying but the only thing that turned me away was the 100$ price tag. Don't really have the extra cash to be throwing around so i went with that GT 520 for now, mebbe later when i have more money to spend i will do this. Thanks :)

Won't be able to SLI them, will be able to use the slower card for PhysX, that is if you play games that utilize Nvidia PhysX.

Well lets see, all the games i play are.. Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, World or Warcraft, Crysis 2, and Skyrim. Haven't found anything new to play yet and i don't like CoD or MWF type game's much. Don't see me buying anything new unless i find a super crazy new RTS game or Crysis 2 like shooter. Is it worth getting that GT 640 for these limited games?

If your signature is up to date, don't bother, 640 is slower than a 570.

Yep, its updated just recently when i installed my Watercooling. That's good to hear, save me 100$ and i hope i get a series upgrade for my 570 like they did with my old 470, but that might be asking to much, getting upgraded to a 670 would be amazing but not expecting it and the 570 HD SC is such a great card anyways. Still tho would love the performance upgrade. xD.

Thanks for the help again Loveha :) Good to see you around again!  I do have a question about the GT 520 do you think its spec's could run Starcraft 2 on the lowest settings? like i said before i will go crazy without something to do for a week. Any help here would be great! I'm still learning about computers and understanding the difference between video card spec's are still something i don't fully understand.

    SC2 Requierment's (edit)

ok so i totally missed this

    PC Minimum System Requirements*:
    • Windows® XP/Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 (Updated with the latest Service Packs) with DirectX® 9.0c
    • 2.6 GHz Pentium® IV or equivalent AMD Athlon® processor
    • 128 MB PCIe NVIDIA® GeForce® 6600 GT or ATI Radeon® 9800 PRO video card or better
    • 12 GB available HD space
    • 1 GB RAM (1.5 GB required for Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 users)
    • DVD-ROM drive
    • Broadband Internet connection
    • 1024X720 minimum display resolution

This is would be Minimum video card requirement Geforce GT 6600 < Minimum
These are the Spec's of a GeForce GT 520 < going to be using

Would it be ok to play SC2 with this 520 or would it just be to much for the card? Thanks!
