OP I agree with you completely. I hope there is no mATX board out by evga because they want to wait and cram 8dimm slots on it. (they got 6 dimms on the x58 board, it should be possible, but idk what I am talking about) And maybe more than 2 sataIII ports I have 2 x 2TB caviar blacks for raid O and a 60gb SSD for caching. But, before Christmas would be nice. Because, I have everything but the processor and motherboard on my desk.

It will have 4 DIMMs. Do not make it so-dimms please, the last thing i want in my performance machine is more expensive sodimms that don't overclock well. Any news about the number of sata 6 ports? PCI 3.0 support? It would be awesome if it were to have 5+ sata 6 ports. or, i guess at least 3. 2 for raid 1 for ssd. and PCI-E3.0 would be nice for Nvidia 600 series as an upgrade.

Looks like I might be upgrading my X58 Micro ... best of all it'll go into my plain old NSK3480 case and the misses won't know any different :) Oh yeah, I read that there's Firewire 800, 1394B, on the FTW and Classy (although I can't find it in the photo's but it's meant to be external) ... is it going to be on the Micro?

almost February already, also any hints on the price tag, lets say 140-150 bucks. please?, 200 would be too much for all the features lost from a full atx mobo. planning on getting the i7 3820. some ballistix tactical tracers dimms and a kepler gtx 660 (im patient:))

Even a mATX X79 won't be priced to threaten too many P67/Z68 sales. FYI: X58 micro didn't debut that low (I remember the DFI and Asus boards at $225), although ATX averaged 50-100 more. That said, with the cheapest SNB-E coming Feb 13th, that would be perfect timing for a mATX...

Not to scare anyone , but while EVGA's X58 came on time ( November 2008), their contending mATX didn't appear for months after everyone else in March 2009 until way out in July 2009. So the worst case senario repeats this by having EVGA's mATX X79 debut way out in July 2012 since all other competing mATX X79's are already out. But I'm sure EVGA is targetting the cheapest of their X79 board series within the Feb 13th release of the cheaper Sandy Bridge-E processor (i7-3820)-- or at least that would be the smartest thing to do, IMO. So wait another month and we'll se how things pick up, like 920 making X58 popular, 3820 will make X79 popular.

Yep, Im looking at between a 3820/X79/mATX or mATX Ivy. But from what Ive been reading, Im not sure about the EVGA X79? I work more than play, so Im need something reliable, like my EVGA X58 SLI3.

IN... I am looking into smaller... I went from a 700D to a Lian-Li Knight... and now I am looking for a even smaller case. Currently waiting for the Xigmatek Gigas case. I would like to see a mATX board by EVGA by the time that case arrives. but that ROG board is temping, yes I am just saying that to make EVGA build a board so I don't have to buy a ROG :P hehe pressures on! I think 2xSLI is enough so a mATX is all I need full ATX is a waste of space imo and harder to travel with.

Asus mATX X79 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131805 From what Ive been reading, Im not to sure I trust an EVGA X79. And after some bad current GPU drivers from Nvidia, even though thats not EVGA, we still didnt get a response from EVGA. To me thats after the sell service. Like, we got our customers backs. Ive read more than a few post on EVGA X79's boards. Im thinking Ill be passing on EVGA X79/Z77 borads.

EVGA any news on mATX X79 board? I want one. I have been eyeballing Asus. I have not been able to click on checkout button. I am your loyal fanboi. I do not know for how long I will be able to resist pressing checkout button on newegg for that Asus board.

Update. There will be no EVGA mATX X79 board. The project is suspended indefinitely. I got me a ASRock mATX and so far not bad. I really wanted mATX board from EVGA.
