So I've got a test/interview tomorrow for a Tech job and I'm a bit nervous. I have no idea what they are going to put me through and I'm feeling overwhelmed.
I'm going to have to sit at a computer and fix it
and take a service call
I don't know if I should bring a field handbook, a multimeter, tools, or what. It could be something easy like a disconnected cable, but I have no idea since I've never had a hands-on test before.
I'm not too worried about the support ticket call, if you have any tips that'd be appreciated though. I figured I could just put on my sexy phone voice and coast through it (I hope it's not a dude on the other end >.<). I don't know if I'll have access to the Internets and the Google, or even a working PC. I hope to God that I will, since I've never really walked anyone through a process (well a few times) without being able to go through them myself (menu trees, etc.). I wonder if they will make me use remote desktop.
So far my thinking is to memorize a few lines for the support ticket call (like making sure I ask if there is anything else I can do, until the "customer" hangs up) and to memorize beeps and boop numbers for motherboard boots.
I'm pretty sure I can do this, I'd just feel more comfortable if I had a few friends helping me gather my thoughts ahead of time.
Woo! If I get this job it will be my first REAL technician job. With a REAL paycheck, with a REPUTABLE entity!
The only downside is 3-4 hours commuting each day, but that's the price you pay for living in a bedroom community. Plus, it will look sweet on a resume if I find a position closer to home :D
