I currently have a 570 in 1080p but am looking for an upgrade. I was thinking of getting another 570 and running them in SLI but am wondering if I should just sell my 570 now and replace it with a 680 instead. One of the biggest reasons I was looking for an upgrade was due to the 570's having lowering vram and causing fps to drop in games like BF3 and Crysis 2. If it drops now with everything maxxed, titles down the road will only get worse. I've heard that SLI can be a little finicky, and that the 680 has comparatively lower computing power than previous generations. So I'm a bit up in the air over this one.

If you are worried about Vram, sell that 570 and await the 680 4GB coming in May. All round Win/Win:)

What's the expected price point to be? Cost is another consideration I have to take in.

cost wise the gtx 570 is winner if you have a card... the ram will be a problem in a year or so and turning on everything will max out your ram .. only 1 game has givven my gtx 570 problems and thats bf3...ram problems as soon as you turn on AA the ram goes to hell and back in some maps i wont be going SLI because i dont believe in it but cost efffecively going SLI makes alot more sense

My suggestion would be to go with a 680 4GB...this card will still be viable next year with that VRAM, then you could get another;) While I still think that 2GB is PLENTY for a 1080 single monitor setup, others want more. Hey, it's your money!

Keep in mind, using FXAA instead of MSAA, you can drop vram usage of AA by 400%.

I agree the 680 is the way to go. If you overclock the card, the 680 should surpass the SLI config in some cases and you will have much lower power consumption and less heat buildup in your case.

I regret selling my 480s and picking up a GTX680. The 680 just doesn't perform as consistently. Could be due to immature driver, I'm not sure. At the moment 570 sli is the better option by a good margin for the most part.

Sad thing is, I remember being told a similar thing last year when I got my 570. I think price will be the biggest deciding factor for me at this point.

In BF3 maxed on a single screen @ 1920x1080 is was getting around 85-135 fps with a slight overclock on my 570 SC in SLI. I haven't seen a 680 in action yet so I wouldn't know what to tell you there, but it is hard to imagine a single 680 can give you that sort of performance.

Indeed full Ultra with MSAA at 1920x1080 with 570's in sli you hit a VRAM wall. Performance does dip into the 60's. 85+ Doesn't seem possible even with that overclock. EDIT: At least not on a 64 player conquest.
