Hi.
I have 1 GTX 670 SC edition and its not a problem to change the voltage. once i change it, it stays there. However, for how long it stays where i put it is random. so that happens many times that I'm in a middle of a game and then suddenly the game start lagging like 5-25 fps max or completely black screen for few secs everything is freezing Or none of that happens, game isn't laggy but I have crazy objects and color changing game. all that just because precision X decided to put the Voltage to default. but why would it be so random? either it stays how I put it until i change it or either don't work when i touch it at all. sometimes even after reboot its how I put it. anyone experienced the same?

Nope, no problems like that with mine. The 600 series also automatically adjust the voltage within its range depending on how much load the card is put under. The voltage slider in Precision is kind of worthless for the 600 series IMO. I don't think the problems you are describing have anything to do with your voltage adjustment, sounds more like a driver issue or a bad card. Is that a 2GB 670SC? If so what is the part #? They discontinued the 2GB SC 670's because they had some problems.

Yes, part Number is 02G-P4-2672-KR. and it is a voltage problem.
and every1 i know OC with puting the voltage to be able to go all the way up, while adjusting itself. so when its on the max 1.175 all runs perfectly. but once the voltage resets and goes back to 0.988 then problems begin to start. and as i said above the issue here is that it Resets itself randomly without any reason or warning.

I have not touched the voltage adjustment on my 670, just the power target, core and memory offsets. The card will automatically adjust the voltage when it needs to, up to the 1.175v limit. So you are saying you have issues when the card is not under load at idle voltage, correct?

no it does happen under load while im in a game or an heavy application. but also happens while in idle its just changing randomly. i just dont understand why it would behave they way it does only thing i see is that its some sort of a bug in the program itself.

Have you overclocked the card at all? If you have it may be an unstable overclock, possibly a driver issue. What drivers are you using and have you tried any others? I don't think Precision X is causing your problems, but it is possible, try uninstalling it and see what happens. Sounds more like a bad card to me at this point.

    Re:Precision X Sunday, August 12, 2012 6:08 PM (permalink)
yeah i have overclocked it and it is 100% stable, only with the voltage slider maxed out to 1.175. if the card still running on the settings of the OC and the voltage at the default then obviously its not stable. at the beginning i checked whats the max memory OC and then the Offset OC. at the end i combined them together and then adjusted more here less there for final stability check when both maxed out on their own max oc. after this point it runs 100% stable so just to be sure from this point i even made a bit less to be 110% stable. now im not saying that to teach u anything, just making it clear that my OC is stable and why i think so. OC really isnt the issue. stable and max temps are never above 65c on air which high OC its pretty nice (loud though). Drivers ive used is the latest from Nvidia as well  as with the beta  driver. 301.42 and 304.48, same with both. now im gonna try the update on the beta which is 304.79. ill try to uninstall precision x now and install the 304.79 beta. i'd really want this card to be faulty cus i really am disappointed with the fact that they have problems with the them and that they don't even sale these cards anymore, kinda tells u something. but what is even more making me angry is that the FTW version which supposed to be much better costs exactly the same amount i bought this 1. but as long as the Voltage stays on max its no problem at all.

    and thanks for your posts.

The only faulty thing ive noticed, which im not sure if it is faulty at all but the power target on Precision x is set to 122% but in test it shows really unstable movement sometimes even hits more than 145% and when set to default 100% get close to 112 and more. now is it even better or worse? better cus the 6xx series is automatically adjusting everything so by being able to put more power to the card means it can do and that means its even better, or...

That may be your problem right there, and if it is crashing and giving artifacts that is instability, have you tried out the new firmware? It is supposed to help with the TDP spikes which can cause issues. I however am not having any problems without the new firmware so I have chosen not to update my card. I am by no means an expert at this just trying to help you out, but there is something wrong that is for sure. You shouldn't have to lock your voltage to the max, the card should handle the voltage control on its own.

You may want to just start a thread in the 600 series forum, I think more people will chime in and help you out.

It is in a sticky at the top of the 600 series forum. I think it may help you out, not exactly sure though. I don't use it because I don't want my card to have more aggressive power throttling since I don't have a problem with it when my TDP does spike.
