are these features only for the GTX 680 for now, or can/will they be possible with the 500 or older cards?

z999z3mystorysare these features only for the GTX 680 for now, or can/will they be possible with the 500 or older cards? It looks like this is a hardware-level feature. I love the whole idea, but have to get a GTX 680 for it... From HardOCP: "...we realize that for some gamers, it is natural to play with VSYNC to eliminate tearing... We will look at [the GTX 680's] Adaptive VSYNC in a future follow-up. As far as the technology goes, we like the sound of it a lot. For gamers who run VSYNC, but want the best framerates, Adaptive VSYNC sounds like the perfect thing to make everyone happy. You won't get tearing, and you won't get large noticeable changes in your framerate bouncing from 60 to 30 and back during play. We like that NVIDIA is aiming to improve the smoothness of the gameplay experience, and this is a feature we are glad has been added, gamers will appreciate it."

Nope, these are NOT hardware based and are not 600 series exclusives Both features are -completely- supported on both 400 and 500 series cards The driver was released .inf restricted to the 680, but using a .inf mod has shown that BOTH these features are 100% driver based and are working correctly on 400 and 500 series cards *EVGA user HeavyHemi is already using this driver with 580's SLI and a 470 Physx http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1506427

However, no one has posted results. Enabling the setting for any card is one thing, and just software, but actually seeing the feature work on 400 or 500 series is another. Don't count on this as fact until some official results are posted by someone willing to test it.

Sorry bro, this 680 driver (two versions of it) has been floating around for a few days.... Both the FXAA and Adaptive Vsync are comfirmed as driver based features that are completely supported and working on 400 and 500 series.

That's great news if it actually gives this feature to previous gen cards. It would even help my second, older PC at home as well. But can you link to someone testing this and posting results? I can't find any yet.

First time I played Skyrim I followed a rabbit into a woddy area on a snowy mountain and punched the poor thing to death and got lost.

Yes of course I expect Nvidia to release a "official" driver for 500 series (and below) cards supporting the new driver features -very- soon. Using modded .inf files does not void your EVGA warrenty, but if you havent done it before and dont know the proceedure it is NOT suggested to do so. If in doubt, just wait for the Official drivers... its not going to be long

My understanding is that these features here will be added via official WHQL drivers as follows; FXAA via CP - GeForce 8 series and up "With the UDA driver, this feature will be made available to all GeForce 8-series and later users." Adaptive Vsync - GeForce 8 series and up " As with Control Panel FXAA, Adaptive VSync will be rolled out to all GeForce 8-series and later users in the near future."
