http://www.overclock.net/t/1215866/reviewed-400-2560x1440-ips-no-ag-achieva-shimian-qh270-does-anyone-read-korean/510#post_16589261 so just posting this up I ahvent seen a thread yet. so anyways long story short. pretty damn good 2560x1440 resolution monitor, with basically the same panel as the imac panel for only 400 bucks. its a stripped down model, seems it doesnt have speakers and very many connectors or adjustment settings. I think you can adjust manually through your graphics card, but dont hold me to it as ive never done that before. turns out you can buy these in korea for around 240-270. just my luck my parents are coming on friday from korea, and they have been hounding me to buy me a bday gift since my birthday was 2 weeks ago. my father located one, and hopefully he doesnt drop the ball on getting it. he is on the other hand kinda upset with me. lol. he says this specific brand is known for supplying the PC Bangs in korea, so hes wondering why a 29 year old that is married and in a career is playing computer games... I told him its so I can make pictures I send him prettier lol. anyways do the math, all the 2560x1440 monitors are around 900-1400 brand new. this on ebay is 400. to me it seems pretty full of win. I will definitely let you know how I feel about it when I recieve it. if its as good as I am hoping then my 27inch 1080 Asus will be up for sale soon. and my parents are coming from korea again during the summer as they have some buisness things to finish up... can someone say 3x 2560x1440 27' monitors for under 800 dollars? also posted up the link where its exploded on overclock.net.

Sigh. My father being the stubborn person he is called his industry contacts and says this monitor isn't good enough for me and switched me to something else... I don't even know the brand lol. Anyways. Still an awesome deal for anyone looking to upgrade monitors. *just to specify what the amazing logic that was used by my father is... they used alot of taiwanese parts/capacitors? which he tells me is a cost saving method and he doesnt trust it for longetivity. I have no idea. maybe someone else can shed some light on this mentality? I think its just his hate for chinese/taiwan merchandise in general after their pricing forced him to close one of his factories in korea down in early 2000's lol.

I'm amazed no interest in this. I thought people would go crazy for a 27inch cheap 2560x1440 resolution monitor.
I didn't know but seems there are a lot of cheap options in Asia for these types of ips monitors. I'll definitely post up some pictures of whatever it is that my father decided to get.

I don't know if there would be a lot of interest in things that would cost more to ship from there than it would be to get an IPS monitor here. I don't even know if this thread is in the proper area. Might have been better placed in the 'Hot Deals' section of the forum as it's not a 'general help fixing' type of thread. More an informative thread about a good deal overseas.

? It's 400 shipped to your house in the USA. And I was curious if people had info on maybe the quality or such. I don't think you can find a 2560x1440 monitor for even double the price they asking. Bad part is basically no warranty. Unless you wanna ship to Korea haha.

I've never really even heard of those. Interesting for the resolution but even at $400 shipped to the door in the US not having a warranty and/or having to ship back to Korea if it arrives DoA or any issues is going to be a problem still. Perhaps someone has an interest or knows more about them. [edit] In doing a bit of research on this monitor itself it's a rebrand using the same type of panel the Dell Ultrasharp is using with the AG not applied. There is a possibility of ordering one but it appears they need to be purchased in sets of 500 from the only vendor I can find which stocks them. I would hesitate to purchase anything overseas which arrives with no warranty or ability to return it without spending more to ship again overseas instead of having a local shop to send it to here. Perhaps elsewhere it might be more appealing. [/edit]

there are a couple of reviews on overclock.. .the thread is like 50 pages long though. seems so far the issues, slight bleeding which seems to be the norm on all IPS monitors and they say eases over time. and i think there was 1 person who had 1 spec of dust under his panel that he thought was a dead pixel. oh and something about this panel being 8 bit vs 10 bit. if someone can explain to me what the difference is, would be much appreciated.

Interesting. Based on some posts on the original thread I linked. These monitors might have the ability to run somewhere between a 75-97mhz refresh rate. No conclusive data yet. Still waiting on more people to receive their monitors for testing.

Taiwan has its own land, currency and government, sounds like its an independent country. I don't know why people like to think they're the same country. And I've had good luck with Taiwanese products so far. nearly all RAM on the market is made in Taiwan, haven't had a single stick fail on me yet. Intel CPUs, very reliable I am sure you agree, are made in Taiwan by TSMC. Seasonic? awesome. I could go on.. but I am sure you get my drift. Chinese products on the other hand... well let's just say I'd rather spend the premium and avoid Made in China whenever possible.

hoserx Please if you don't mind, come back here and tell us all about it when you get it? pics too? :) haha, well the thing is I dont have the same exact model that is listen up ontop. Mine uses the same exact panel but it is made by a company called First. They are from korea as well. difference... well I can actually adjust my screen through the settings, and it tilts and swivels unlike the 2 monitors that were listed in the link I posted. I mean I Can link this monitor if someone likes... I just picked up my parents not too long ago from JFK and my father made me put it in as soon as we got home. honestly... right now... makes my asus VE278Q look... kinda meh... lol. its awesome. price he paid? he went to the distributor directly in korea and was able to get it for around 240-250 USD. problem... I wanted to sell my Asus 27inch but my brother is beginning to eyeball it and is grumbling about his 24inch samsung looks a bit small.... lol.

http://blog.danawa.com/pr...eyword=first%20monitor This is the link for the monitor that I recieved. I mean im assuming with shipping if the seller is willing to do it, it will be around 350-400. if your planning on ordering one I think following the original thread and purchasing based on feed back is better than, trying to buy from someone only selling in korea and trying to convince them to ship it to the USA. I Will definitely take some pictures tonight after I take my parents out to dinner and they pass out.

Definitely the right price, resolution and tech. people often get scared off about unknown branding though even if the guts are the same as a Dell panel. If I had the money to spare three or 5 of these panels would rock for 3x1L or 5x1P.
