This is probably going to make a lot of you scratch your heads, but I don't know, so here goes. My CPU (AMD 4000+ San Diego 2.4 GHZ) runs warmer at stock temp. When I overclock it to what I have been running it at (2880 MHZ, 240X12) It actually runs COOLER. I have bios monitoring, and several software monitoring programs, and have tested several times under 100 percent load for the processor, and ram through fossil load test online as well as having at least 20 or 30 applications and web browsers going at the same time and still able to navigate and use normally without any errors. This is just boggling my mind, also I have no additional cooling on the CPU, I just run it without sides, and have case fans. I don't need to set the voltage higher on the processor to make it stable, but when I do it heats up rather fast. I have the voltage at around 1.38 volts. Anything over 1.4 and it just heats up too much. The RAM that I have is able to take incredible overclocking as well, it is set with the FSB obviously at DDR480, and doesn't overheat or crash. It's SuperTalent DDR400 with heat sinks on the chips. I have 2 SLI GeForce 7600's 512mb each, that I had to install fans on because at stock speeds were running at 195 degrees in not even an hour under load. I put some old slot 1 fans that I had on each card now I am able to run both cards at 550 mhz GPU from 400 mhz stock stable with no overheating or crashing, and the RAM is matched with my system. Now they run 140 160 max under load for hours. I set the voltage a little bit higher on the Northbridge and on the system ram to insure stability. Is this a good idea or can I just leave the voltages alone at these speeds? I just can't explain why my processor would actually run cooler set 500 mhz above normal frequency without any additional cooling in fact I haven't cleaned my CPU fan in a while and it is a little dirty so again, explain that one........ Oh, my motherboard is nothing special, it is a Jetway socket 939 gt4SLI-g-vc.
