The blue screen of death points to a Renesas driver "nusb3xhc.sys" according to carrona.org BSOD index which makes sense because the errors only occure when USB devices are plugged into the USB 3.0 ports. It can be my keyboard, webcam, or external hard drive wether it is a USB 2.0 device or 3.0 device. The blue screen of death stop code is "0xe0010002" I've been struggling to solve this problem so I can use the ports and have a stable computer for a long time. There is only one driver available from the download center can I please have any information about a driver update or anything like that?

Did you d/l the latest driver? Reinstall them (latest ones ones) Are you talking Rear Ports or Front Panel ports from the MB header? And, which board? 67, 68

I've reinstalled them it seems to work a day after I install them again then eventually crashes again. There is only one version on the EVGA download list; rear ports Z68.

We are all having USB-3 problems with the P67 & Z68 boards & not just EVGA. I just sent an RMA on my Z68FTW. Now I installed my P67FTW board that I received form EVGA as return from a previous RMA ( The RMA was my fault not EVGA's ) This board has the same USB-3 issues as the Z68FTW I just sent Back. I guess I'll have to send this one back also. (Getting expensive to send them Back!)

MatthewH said they were able to reproduce the problem, thought it might be a USB-3 controller firmware issue. I have not heard any more since. I'm assuming my RMA will have the same problems.

☄ Helpful
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=19880 I tried these USB 3.0 drivers; they install and behave exactly the same way the drivers on EVGA's website do. That's not true it hasn't BSOD(ed) yet; it has only froze a few times. The new drivers are 2.1.28.0 and EVGA's are 2.1.19.0; maybe an improvement?

My computer is still malfunctioning because of USB 3.0; I am just going to continue to use it submiting problem reports to Microsoft etc.

The driver update from intel stops the BSoD (but not the drops). I'm hoping if the firmware update is required we get an official one from EVGA. Rather than relying on unofficial updates.

Yah that's exactly what it did for me too it looks like the firmware update I posted stops the drops too. Aren't you all proud that I found those updates!

It still has issues, although it hasn't BSOD(ed) my WD Essentials is connected it seems like it did drop connection once and it can take forever to shutdown sometimes. It hasn't blue screen of deathed though a small improvment, I need to to be completely stable thoguh. Taking an hour to shutdown if it drops is not acceptable it could be related to WD very likely only time will tell.

I've read that it's an NEC driver, it has stopped the BSODs and with the firmware it hasn't froze yet. With the external hard drive it can sometimes take forever to shutdown I don't know why it's an improvment, I agree we need a final offical set of drivers though.

After further troubleshooting my computer doesn't bluescreen but USB 3.0 still isn't fully functional. That sucks and there is hardly any news about this being solved completely. What have I done to deserve this!

They seem to be if you have a VIA chip, but looks like we're out of luck on the NEC/Renesas chip because Matt has told me they were unable to reproduce it on a board I had RMAed. feniks interesting ... and no word from EVGA techs ... so there were different brand of chips used for USB3.0 within the same board model? or SLI vs FTW are different? I think that Z68 FTW is using a VIA chip, at least I saw such driver in downloads for it. linuxpng They seem to be if you have a VIA chip, but looks like we're out of luck on the NEC/Renesas chip because Matt has told me they were unable to reproduce it on a board I had RMAed. feniks interesting ... and no word from EVGA techs ... After exhausting and troubleshooting every last step I could on the driver level of my USB 3 device I finally came to the conclusion that it was failing hardware. The new motherboard I got back was a revision above the one I sent back from r 1.1 to r 1.1.1 So on the new board my USB 3 external HDD I have wasn't initalized when I booted up two times, the first time I shut off the HDD then turned it back on and it initalized the second time I had to reboot. That is all that has gone wrong so far with my new motherboard I belive it is fixed. Thanks EVGA
