I have been planning my next computer my way too long. I'll be getting my first job shortly, and after a couple of months of saving I'll be ready to build. The main goal I have with this computer is to make it last as long as possible. I'll be getting the latest NVIDIA GPU, and a 4790K, but I'm very concerned with the ability to expand, being able to throw in another GPU or two, putting in some more RAM, and extra storage is key. However I want the best noise/performance cooling. Right now that seems to be the Noctua NH-D15 for the CPU cooler. The only 1150 socket board with a PLX that Noctua lists as fully compatible with the NH-D15 is the Z87 Classified from EVGA. However the Z97 version is not listed as compatible, and the CPU socket/PCIe slot layout seems to be identical. Can anyone conform the compatibility of the NH-D15 and the Z87 Classified? Keep in mind that I want to be able to use the top slot for the GPU. If I can't (and I add an additional GPU later) either the top card will be suffocated by the bottom card, or the bottom card will be suffocated by PSU in the case I want.
This is the build I'm considering: | I know, Corsair PSU, but I already have it.
I have been a fan of EVGA for two years as I got my first High End gaming GPU from them two years ago, and it has served me very, very well. The great customer service and warranties are very nice too.
