Well I overclocked my CPU and got a 3.6ghz stable overclock(3669mhz)
And then I returned to my computer being left on and running for 4~7days at a time without rebooting...
Well a short bit ago my computer seized and i had to unplug it to restart it.
It fussed with itself for a few minutes and finally turned back on.
I go into the settings, and it kicked my overclock back to stock.
fustrated i put the overclock settings i had before back on it and...
restart...
it sits for about 5~6minutes fussing and screwing with the lights and then finally boots
Yeah it removed the overclock settings again. and gives me a 20millisecond message saying "last overclock failed..soemtihing else i cant read before it goes away"
what... the hell....
This computer is getting old. >.<
Could someone kicking it on the side screw up some of the parts inside(aside from the obvious hard disc)?
Becase I didnt start having problems with this computer until that freaking [link=mailto:!@#!!@$]!@#!!@$[/link] aunt i was living with put a boot to the side of my computer(IT STILL HAS THE DAM BLACK MARKS!)
Or did it just get tired of being pushed to 3.6ghz? >.>
I havent tried loading the alienware profile yet, because im alittle to involved in my MMORPG atm... It should work but I dont think my OC will work again because it kicked it right after i put it back up.
advice?

Check your voltages some of them may need to be increased.  Did you test your original OC with linx or prime95?   Could be it was going to fail anyway but it was stable enough to boot.

And yes being kicked can cause damage to a PC something could have been cracked the CMOS battery could have been knocked loose.  RAM could have been knock out of a DIMM.  Best tear it down and reseat everything including the CPU and power cables.  double check all your connections after rebuilding it.

Well it was... kicked in the side long before I upgraded it... I do need to go and put new thermal paste and stuff down on the processor...
It's possible I undervolted it because I leave my computer running 24/7 and only reboot once every 4~7days... longenvity... anyways.
I never did test something like prime95 or linx.
I mean maybe i should have. Im not video editing at all right now anyways I dont think I need to go OC atm. WAs just nice when I was doing 3Dmark11 and video editing.
Now im just playing MMOs and stuff...
I'll go see what i can do later I have quests to finish and %s to get.

If you never tested the OC for stability thats probably the problem.  Unstable OCs can lead to HD corruption and possibly BIOS corruption too.  I would not recommend undervolting your CPU instead turn on intel speedstep which will lower the multi and voltage when not in use or when the full speed is not required.

SpeedStep should be disabled. As well as any Intel power save features.

I personally disable them but ive seen other use them with lower OCs.  I would never use any kind of power saving in my rig.

But really, if you have to physically unplug your PC to shut it off it's almost always going to be an issue with the PSU or Motherboard.

I had that problem with my Sabretooth board running on my Corsair psu, everytime I had to cut the power to it, the overclock would reset. I just updated the bios and now its fine.

Sorry but, sounds like you have no idea how to overclock properly.
Do yourself a favor, use the search button and take a few hours to read the how-to's so you can learn the ins and outs of a proper OC.

+1 million. Dummy OCs are pretty much worthless IMHO.

Also, if you never tested for stability you cant really call an overclock "stable".

CD is probably correct...that's a pretty classic lookup you will see when your vcore is a little low. As far as speed step goes...I don't use it either but on the x58's and beyond you can...its not like the trouble it would cause on 7xx and 6xx chipsets. Most people around here will tell you to turn it off, especially people new to overclocking, because it will change your multi and ghz to compensate for use and when people see that they freak out, so to avoid the headache all together we tell you shut it off. Eppo and the others are right too...you really need to do some catching up on overclocking information. Im not trying to be a jerk but its kinda essential to doing it correctly.

I watched the overclock tips from Linus on the NCIX youtube channel.
    Is his suggestions wrong then?
It has been a long time since I overclocked...
ACtuually come to think of it I havent really overclocked many of the systems i built... I always ran stock... so i pretty much just might as well be brand new asside from the small bit of info i already know.
Anyone got a straight up guide?
    And a link for LinX?

Same... I used to be a... little weaboo. then I realized most anime is just like american TV. by that i mean it sucks.
I only like anime just like all the other shows i watch.
Philisophical, highly indepth, serious and well writen, and also GirlxGirl (shoujo Ai*) as long as its created well.
Chobits, Ghost in the Shell, Elfen Lied, Kashimashi, Arjuna, Read or Die.
I occasionally like the off color comedy. Like Girls Bravo and DearS.
But yeah most anime is... crud. Sick of all the crap.
