10.06.16 UPDATE * Fixed browser caching for badges. Now your browser will cache every badge for one hour, so it won't have to fetch them from the server on every single page load. This should make forum threads with lots of badge-users load a little quicker. * Updated the CC badges so that they'll display the average PPD during the contest instead of the current scores, since the contest is now over.

Server seems to have gone down for some reason this morning. I'm looking into it as we speak.

well, the site from the company hosting my server has been darned slow all day, and there hasn't yet been a response to my ticket, so I don't know what to expect just yet. Just have to wait it out at this point.

Badges are back up! Turns out that the server's power supply was going bad and had to be replaced.

tousisd how can i get more total points and less WU ? can be ? Not sure what you are asking. This thread is for the signature badges only. If you have a question about getting better production per wu, you should start a new thread and ask away. GL

I would love to know the code behind these badges planetarian. Are you using a PHP script to render these out or something else entirely? Would you mind sharing with me the details? Thanks!

Since he does not login but periodically. Might be best to PM him, as a lot of people have a "PM" notification email sent to them.

EVIIILJ I would love to know the code behind these badges planetarian. Are you using a PHP script to render these out or something else entirely? Would you mind sharing with me the details? Thanks! The folding badge system is a project I undertook a year or two ago just for kicks. I never cared much for the existing badges from other sites, finding their design to be lacking (I have a graphics design + programming background; I'm a weirdo). I wanted something smoother, minimalist, yet still customizeable, and none of the existing systems really appealed to me. So, I wrote my own custom badge system from scratch, giving folks a (hopefully) more attractive and personalizeable alternative, to give something back to the community when I was far more active than I am now. It wasn't always as customizeable as it is now. Originally, the only option was black background, white text, EVGA logo. You gave it your user ID and that was it. I continued to work on it, adding the option to colorize text, then the background. Icons came next, then backgrounds, etc... Eventually it became what it is today. I wrote the code behind the badges from scratch in PHP, using MySQL, CURL, and GD. I don't plan on releasing the source code for it, at least partially because I like being able to maintain a certain sort of consistency for everyone using it, but also because the fewer badge providers there are, the less stress is placed on the stat hosting sites -- and at least I can be certain that if someone writes and hosts their own, they're serious enough to not have to worry about. Of course, it's also partially because, in retrospect, the code quality of the badge system project isn't something I feel I can hold to my present-day standards. ^^;; That said, I might be willing to discuss/share specific bits of the codebase if there's anything in particular you'd like to learn about. Playing with GD for programmatically building images is especially fun.

jflankford Since he does not login but periodically. Might be best to PM him, as a lot of people have a "PM" notification email sent to them. Indeed, RL has kept me mostly away from the community for a long time now. I still try to hop on every now and then when I find time to see how the community is doing, if there's any big news I've missed, and if the badge system is still working fine, but my presence has certainly been minimalized. My job, band, other personal projects, and games have all reduced my online presence to an extreme. That said, I'll definitely respond to any PMs left for me, regardless of how long I've been AFK =)

I haven't read the entire thread, but is there any chance that fermi cards will be added to the ones already in place as icons? I was using the 9800GTX icon, but recently replaced those cards with GTS 450's. I'd love to be able to use an icon of this card in my badge...
