I recently bought an EVGA Founders Edition 1080ti. I have a 144hz gaming monitor that can display at 144hz through the DVI-D port, when I plugged the DVI to display port adapter cable that came with the card I can only display at 60hz it seems to be locked there.

Is this adapter only capable of 60hz? The monitor and the DVI cable work @ 144hz on my old video card just fine.

Correct, the adapter that came with it is a single link DVI adapter capable of only 60Hz.

You'll need a DP to dual link DVI active adapter which runs around $100. Or a new monitor with DP.

With some monitors, I am not sure which you have, you might be able to do a 120 Hz signal from the HDMI port to the DVI input on the monitor. HDMI to DVI does not require an active adapter and the cable is about $5, but it does not always work and HDMI will likely not give you the full 144 Hz.

I have the iiyama 27" 144hz 1ms gb2773hs-gb1 monitor.

What kind of cable might work? I'm willing to give it a try if there's a possibility of 144hz.

New GPU or New Monitor is the only way to get 144Hz.
Most DisplayPort to DVI Cable Adapter are only 60Hz.

Not saying that this will work: supports DVI-D Dual-Link Resolutions to 2560x1600@60Hz or 1920x1080@120Hz for 3D Monitors

Thanks Bcav, I'm stuck in the same boat. I have the ASUS VG236HE, looks like it's time for an upgrade to 1440,with DP.
@ RayH ,thanks also, I didn't know that.

I do not recommend that accell adaptor. I have one, used it with 3d surround on my 980ti, and to run my one remaining 3d monitor with the 1080ti fe.
It randomly goes black for a few seconds on both cards, and could not play video on that monitor with the 980ti.
The black outs bothered me enough I just put a mini 1070 in to run the 3d monitor, and dedicate to PhysX when gaming on the main monitor.

Welcome to the Forum crshsnwmn
"randomly goes black for a few seconds" is a known Driver Issues and not a GPU issues.
Your issue could be bad Cables.

Surround set up was fine on my gtx 690 and all monitors and cables are fine as long as the adaptor is not in use - point being, if you NEED a dvi port, buy a card that has one. The cheap adaptors are not worth the hassle trying to find a good one.
