I'm under the assumption this bios switch will spin the fans at a certain temperature vs the normal not spinning until a certain temp.

But what I'm wondering, is there anything else that the normal vs oc bios does? Power limits? Overclocked gpu? Etc?

Also, I use precision x1 and a fan curve, so my fans would be spinning no matter what. I use a curve even at idle. So basically I'm wondering what the switch is for?
Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

The graphics card should have a higher power and temperature ceiling which allows for more headroom in terms of overclocking when switched to the OC BIOS.
It was like this for the 10 series and should be the same for the 20 series.

Thank you. I read about the 10 series but haven't been told anything concrete on the 20 series. It "should" be the same? Does this mean it does have these things?

Having tested both they both overclock the same and draw the same peak wattage on my card

I asked support about bios switch on my 2080ti fwt3 - they said, that it changes only fan curve, nothing more. Also on OC mode fan wouldn't stop at idle.
Maybe 2080S has same OC bios mode - only fan curve.

BTW asus bios switch do same - only different fan curve, nothing more.

I assumed this, but wanted to ask evga themselves considering they deal with the cards every day. I just wanted to know if the oc bios had some extra bells and whistles like a overclock built in etc.

As far as I could remember, the switches did switch the overclock potential in the past but for the 2000 series, it only changes the fan curves to more aggressive on the OCing mode as Mercury alluded to unless of course that was changed on the Super line.

Ok now i am confused . EVGATech_BrandonO says that the oc bios should have a higher power ceiling.

Over here we have another EVGA confirmation that the OC has higher power limit :
( i cant post the link due to to link spamming prevention , its under EVGA GeForce 20/16 Series >> 2080 ti ftw3 ultra order status monitor thread , page 21, i will just copy paste EVGA_JacobF answer ) "Secondary BIOS goes to 130%, but keep in mind this 130% is much higher than 130% on the standard card."

DeadlyMercury says support confirmed that there is no higher power limit. So, is there a solid answer on what is going on with the oc bios ?

xblackvalorx the fact that you didn't get a higher OC and draw the same pick wattage could just mean that you were not power limited in the first place. If you are not power limited nothing will change by increasing your power limit. Did you check whether you are hitting your power limit ?

I am trying to figure out what the oc bios is doing myself for my 2080 ftw3 ultra.
