Hi all, 1st post so please be kind :)

I am going to receive this card in a few days and going to swop out standard fan for 2 silent wings 3 fans in PP configuration and I was wondering if I can fully remove the cable that connects the radiator fan to the card? , I'm hoping the the fan for vram is connected under the shroud separately so the cable that goes to the radiator fan can be fully removed as in, just the cooling loop exiting the card. I will run both the radiator fans off mobo so I have control over the rpm + temps.

Many thanks for your time

Dan

Sorry to bang on, all I would like to do is remove that cable, is it possible ? To me I really don't see why not but felt i should ask. Cheers 😁

On the 1080 Hybrid kit I have the fan wire was soldered directly to the pump.

Assuming you know about voiding your warranty the only thing you have to do is remove the GPU shroud (screwed on), pinch the cover on the Water Pump/Block and lift it off (held on with 2 clips) and finally cut the fan wires off (or desolder them). - If you don't have proper snips you can use a nail cutter and snip the wires as close as possible to the board (preferably without damaging anything else).

Oh and you're in luck I still have a pic of my pump before rewiring it:

Much appreciated and helpful Quad5ny thanks, you are right though about the warranty and it would be silly to nip the cable off really for the resale value also. I just wanted a cleaner look but its not worth the agro tbh. I will still 100% change fans to PP and plug direct to motherboard header.

    Thanks again.

You can just remove the shroud and tuck the cable in under it. This wont void your warranty and is only a few screws.

:P Sometimes the simple solutions are the best.  I wouldn't have even thought of that, I always go overkill.

@Dillinja187 https://www.amazon.com/BCP-Kapton-Polyimide-Silicone-Adhesive/dp/B00W3FAFP0/ - If you decide to tape the wire down the polyimide tape won't get all gooey or come off from heat like other tapes (it's rated to like 400C or so) and I've never not had it remove cleanly.

Nice 1 cheers!, probably will do exactly that after initial testing etc.

Again cheers for the heads up, that tape might come in handy for future missions but I have already nice 7mm Velcro binders to fix cable to clc temporarily.
