I am actually enjoying a 3070ti from the DIY bundle because I got impatient and have no impulse control and ordered one a few weeks ago. But this one managed to go to a friend of a friend that was looking for a card to upgrade from a 970 just like I was. Just happy to pay it forward.

Same.  I signed up for the 3897 a year ago and the element35 queue tracker has me getting an email in mid-September at the earliest.  The EVGA 970 I was riding on for 6.5 years finally died on me and I've had to put in my old EVGA 760.  Ironically in 2019/2020 I was waiting for the 1080 prices to come back down to earth (they were around $1000-$1200 iirc, while my 970 was about $300 brand new in late 2015 - $1k for a 'marginally better' card was inconceivable to me).  Now I'm basically forced to get a non-EVGA 3060 card just as a stopgap and to wait for the 4000 series, while praying that prices aren't still sky-high for a 4080 (not getting my hopes up).

For 3897, I signed up on 1/21/2021 13:41:36.  By a conservative estimate, I will get the notify by 07/25/2023 4:35:17.  An optimistic estimate tells me I will get the notify by 04/08/2022 4:14:02.  Though my strategy was to sign up for a 3967 the day after its queue opened.  Essentially "pulling ahead".
