You can purchase an EVGA card like the 3060 from then or any authorized dealer and use that card to Step-Up to a more powerful card. I did that to get a 3090. Nobody is quite sure what the queue will look like going forward if they do open the notify buttons up again.

Oh. Interesting. Is the Step-Up option part of a different process or is it still dependent on the current queue system opening-up again?

can someone explain to me why I didn't get notified for my 3080 FTW3 ULTRA when I signed up on 10/14/20 and the queue position is now at 10/15/20?

Did you decide to stay with the -KR instead of going to the -KL when the choice was offered? Your notify is for the -KR and those have not been manufactured for a long time.
I was never given the choice to switch. Never received any sort of email asking me to switch. I had an issue where the "Active" status was set to false so I had emailed EVGA asking why it was set to false, so they re-enabled it to "True". It's pretty frustrating they didn't even bother to mention or ask about the model number when it's not even being manufactured.. I mean I knew the KR wasn't being manufactured but I thought it was just a bug on their website since they did not even mention anything about that..

NVIDIA announced the change a long time ago and EVGA then informed us. You had to request to stay in the KR queue or you were moved automatically to the KL SKU. Based on what you said, this sounds like what they thought you were doing. You can try to contact EVGA CS on Monday, when they are open again after the holiday, and explain what happened. Yeah I did not request to stay with the KR version at all. I did not even touch or look at my EVGA account, this forum, and the Google queue document until around last month.. and never received any email asking if I wanted to stay on the KR version. Definitely will contact them. Thanks

Yeah, I just read through it and there's a gotcha - you had to've registered the original product within 14 days of purchase. I wasn't able to, as the website kept kicking me out whenever I tried to access the registration section of My EVGA. I sent a support question describing the problem I was having, but got a quasi-canned response telling me I would now have to buy an extended warranty in order to quality for the program. Ugh. The extended warranty is $25. Is it worth it? Do step-up products become available any time soon or is it the usual hurry up and wait?

It's a line so you gotta wait. I have no clue what either the 3070 or 3090 queues looks like right now but I think the 3080s are heading into March because I signed up for mine in February (I sat on it for a few months after buying the 3070 thinking we get news on the 3080ti (which didn't come til May)) and I didn't get to step two until like late October. That being said, I don't think they're doing any new 3080 step ups right now because of the rumors of the 12gb 3080 refresh?

Would you guys assume that I am next in line for the 3897-KL since I just had my model number changed from KR to KL today (due to the automatic system not changing my model version)? My queue position is on 10/14/20 but the current position for 3897-KL is at 10/15/20.

FLeggett I guess my last question (I think) would be - is there any way to get in the queue for a 3070, 3080, or even a 3090 at this point? Or will people have to wait until evga activates the auto-notify buttons again?
There is currently no way to enter the queues and no one is sure if or when the buttons will light back up. Supposedly they will not light those back up until the current queues are fulfilled which could very well never happen. Your best bet to enter a new queue would be to wait for the rumored 30 Super series (or any other surprise refresh) that is supposed to launch next year or the 40 series. Best of luck, mate!

At the time of the switch, they still had a bit of backstock of the KR models so they allowed people to stay in that queue if they REALLY wanted to. This is was heavily advised against since they were moving production over to the LHR. It ended up paying off big for a select few as it jumped something like a month in the KR queue whereas the KL barely moved and it was a hot topic for a bit. JoshOyenBeats

It's not that they last dropped in December, that date is the most recently known time of signup that received a notification email. The 3665 hasn't moved in at least 30 days, but it looks like the 3667 dropped sometime this month. It just happens that that drop only moved it sometime in the morning of December 4th. Does that make more sense? But I will say, based on your time stamp, the queue will likely never reach you or even if it does, it will take a VERY VERY ......... ....... VERY long time. I would strongly suggest continuing your search for a card elsewhere and maybe hopping in line once the refreshes launch if any of those end up being viable options within your budget. Best of luck on your search, my friend.

It's tax. You have to pay GST and PST. UPS pays it at the border and passes it on to you at delivery.
