Surely I can't be alone in finding it strange that some of what seems to be (at least to me, according to FixitFixItFixIt discord drop monitoring) the most wanted GPUs just start trickling post-grandfathered pre-Jan 1 tariff day cutoff.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure they also sell to smaller companies and the like as well. They move a lot of quantity. Nice thing is that they will show how many pre-orders and how much they have incoming and that kind of information. As an example, there are 11,344 pre-orders for the card I'm in the queue for with 2,920 incoming in their next shipment. If nothing else it gives a realistic idea of the demand/supply situation with them.
There's several threads about BLT , as far as I know , not one person has received a card from them. Not one.

The 3881 is moving..... through retailers. It has zero to do with profit. If you don't believe me, enter "EVGA 3881" on Ebay and see what comes up. They are out there. Apparently, what is happening is that some SKU's are being sold exclusively through EVGA (hybrids, hydro copper, kingpin), and others like the 3881 are being sold pretty much exclusively by retailers. None of us knew this when they launched, so those who wisely signed up for more than one card have generally done better. I have been waiting since September and passed on a couple of cards since I'm holding out for a 3080ti. I will probably end up getting a 3898 though if my time stamp comes up and the ti has not launched by then.

My 3060 and mouse arrived today, so I registered them. They arrived so quickly, probably because I live in southern California. When I registered the products, I could then sign up for elite membership, which required an address which I was willing to give EVGA. I was given the wheel, so I spun a 20% off coupon. I then signed up for the K|NGP|N que.

According to Jacob on twitter, the 24 hour head start for elite members is only for new products implying that it does not apply to the 3090 FTW3 Hydro Copper. It will open for everybody at 10 am pacific time, I presume. I would think the hydro copper would be a low demand card because of the extra cost to cool it, and the customer base already bought their CPU coolers, but it will also probably be really low supply, and people will go for anything in this situation.
I have a whole bunch of notifies to remove, which I will once I am sure my 3060 is not a lemon (and if so, I would just RMA it)

Parts are identical. Pre-overclocking is pretty negligible in terms of labour - there is only profit on the ULTRA cards over the stock clock cards.

Tick. Tock. Last one. I think true enthusiasts, like a person iterating through cards, is actually healthy. That allows people to give honest advice. It gets murky in our locust environment, but honestly, in older times, it was fine to sell a card no longer needed at less than or around or even a little above cost. I guess we shouldn't judge too hard on those cases. I came in a little hot one day about that several months ago. It's actually not that. It's tough to balance where you don't feel like a sucker, but you don't hoard over items. It's not easy, and several different people can see it several different ways.
I hate that I brought Bill and Ted into this, but it just felt right. Banish me to the 90s and be done with me.

Yes, they are designed for liquid cooling but do not come with any cooling solution.

We'll see. By the time you assemble a cooling system for 3090HC you will be out $2500. Good cooling systems are not cheap, and I don't think I would feel comfortable with a knock off system hooked up to my $2000 card. It's a lot of money, and a lot more than I would expect a gamer to pay for a card. I wouldn't expect there to be much interest under normal circumstances. Who knows though, a 3881 is going for more than $2500 on eBay right now so there are obviously plenty of fools out there. I'm sure some will gladly run up their credit card bill for a GPU that they don't really need.

It is very true. I am just a gaming enthusiast myself. I was a console warrior. With a lot of the popular titles going cross platform, I was like "I'll build a gaming pc for fun". Not knowing the mayhem I stepped into. Now I have a useless rig. I wanted a 3080. I want to finish my build, as it is consuming me. I will not pay the price of a 3090 for a 3080 from a scalper. So, I will be one of those people going for a card I don't NEED, but maybe I can actually get. There is nothing wrong with that. I am looking at it as future proofing 😁
