Pretty much everyone knows that PAX is currently going on, and this is my first experience at a PAX event. I really didn't know what to expect, as my only experience at a convention was at the and now defunct Nvision. So far, I have to say that I'm very impressed. Most of the developers and hardware companies had great setups, ranging from big screen gaming to watching noobs pwned by one of the best Street Fighter players in the world to 3D Vision gaming. For everything non-EVGA, I'll get to that later. Who knows, there might even be some booth babes and costumes.... For now, however, this post is for EVGA. EVGA has one of the best, if not the best, displays among the hardware manufacturers. They have a nice L-shaped area opposite Capcom's Dead Rising 2 booth that has a P55 Classified setup, an X58 Classified setup, and an SR-2 setup with 4x GTX480's in Quad-SLI. The best thing about the booth, is the 3D Surround setup, with 3x Dell 30" monitors. MSI also has a 3D Surround setup, but pushed away in a corner of their booth, and with much smaller monitors. Early in the day, EVGA just ran the Unigine Heaven benchmark on the monitors, but late in the day ran the Mafia 2 demo and let people play on the setup. It was busy pretty much the whole day with people stopping by, especially to check out the Mountain Mods SR-2 system and the 3D vision setup. Remember, you can watch all the festivities at the EVGA booth live at http://www.evga.com/live/. EVGA has been giving away shirts and game codes over the live feed, so keep an eye out. Here's a look at the booth with a throng of people passing by and checking out the booth: link Here are some of the systems: Classified X58 with 2 GTX480's: link SR-2 with 2x 6-core Xeons, and 4x GTX480's: link link One of the promos that EVGA is running. I really want to submit a CSI-4 panel meme for it.... link The 3D Surround setup earlier in the day: link link Jacob tried his hand at overclocking on the P55 with 2 GTX480's, all on DICE. The most ghetto DICE setup included a shaved ice maker to break up the DICE. I wish I'd gotten a photo of it, but, alas, I missed it. In the end, the motherboard may have been Moosed, as it wasn't really booting up. I'd say Jacob should probably keep his day job, but........this is, actually, his day job. link link Towards the end of the day, Jacob moved the 3D Surround setup from the X58 Maingear setup to the SR-2 4-way SLI setup and put the machine to run the Mafia 2 demo: link Quite an excellent showing for EVGA on the first day. Later on, I'll update some of the gaming news and shows. I'm heading back over to PAX now, so it won't be until much later.

LOL, no, it's not moose. He isn't at PAX. There would probably be a BSOD at every display in some sort of a ripple effect when he walked in.

When I was a Moderator we never got invites to these things, so it's doubtful it's Moose.

Yeah, I walked by the booth and have a couple of pictures of the animation going on. People are playing it, and it appears to be a game that can utilize co-op. I just haven't had any time, really, to play any of the games.

Wait EVGA is giving away game codes on their live stream, like codes that viewers can use to get games on Steam and the likes?

Thats not 3D Vision... Those are Dell monitors. They don't make 120hz panels.

DAVE2HOT4U Any new cards rumored at the show ? Ive been waiting for one to show its face ! The second generation should be the ninja of all cards ! No, this is less of a hardware convention as it is more of a gaming convention. Among the usual suspects, (EVGA, MSI, Zotac, Patriot, Kingston, Cooler Master, Zalman, and Antec) the only things that are really geared towards gaming are the 3D Surround, 3D Vision, and gaming laptops. The only product from EVGA, shown in a brochure, that hasn't been released yet has little to do with gaming.
