Hahaha you will be motivated till the end that's cool  Yeah mainboard form factor is a matter of preferences but even with my previous rigs which all were AMD ones (SDRAM/DDR1/DDR2/DDR3 platforms) i always bought standard ATX mbs (Abit/DFI/Gigabyte/Asus/MSI/Epox/Soltek/Chaintech/Albatron/XFX) and never bought so tiny and ugly µatx ones... lol... my last was the G1.Sniper A88X 3.1 (FM2+) which had a low profile ATX form factor (a bit narrower than 24,4cm wide)... and nowadays there are even mini itx !  you can be sure that i will never buy such a form factor and if i win a giveaway i will immediately sell it back hahahaha
So hope that your next 8500 will be supported to allow you to update your bios Limeay...

Ooh you got a g1 sniper at one time or another...

Yea I love the form factor because its slightly smaller than ATX. Don't think I'll ever need a ATC mobo. Trying to save space on my desk. I might someday go itx for giggles for a small gaming build. Those shoebox pc builds are awesome.

Yeah got this Sniper from October 2013 to January 2019 till i changed my previous rig for my current one shown in my signature  and had an Athlon 760K and an HD 6770 1Gb passive Radeon graphics card with then an A10-7890K without any graphics card that i sold only to use the integrated APU
But now since 2019 i'm an Intel fan boy and will only purchase Intel cpus... I think i will change my rig in 2023 to evolve towards DDR5
Yeah mainboards sizes are a matter of taste... i've got an Antec Nine Hundred Two case (mid tour) at the bottom of my desk it doesn't take much place and makes my rig serious and professional... i think mini cases would make me laugh at them if i had one lol ...

UPDATE: FINALLY DONE.
just need to do some config in windows and im good.

I have how this site can't upload photos or it takes long.

The stock bios on this was 1.04. I've updated to 1.16 for dual bios switched both on each chip.
The i5 8500 worked. Celeron g4900 didn't work even though some with z370 ftw worked for them. Must've used a newer bios version. Man. Glad it works. I've tried resizable bar on a gtx 1080 ti. Nvidia said that it does not work with anything older than 2000 series i believe.. I have it enabled on my bios though for giggles with a 1080 ti. I had to reformat my system and I have barely any sleep for work in 3 1/2 hrs lol. -_- not a smart move to make being up till 9pm. I get up real early.

Oh that's fine ! So is your 9700K working fine ? And will you send your i5-8500 back ?

Yep working great. Returning i5 8500 too probably today. The uefi settings are quite bare... not alot of settings overall.

  • HPET toggle <- Does not have HPET in the UEFI at all.

  • Unlock current limits <- Also this mobo has issues with current limiting. Can be fixed by modifying bios/uefi/help from users on win-raid. Someone recommended to just use throttlestop app to set it to unlimited current/to where there's no current limit throttling. It's very irritating to have to open throttlestop app everytime just so you won't get current limited.
 Users talking about these issues:
 https://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=3086585&p=3
[Request] BIOS Mod EVGA Z370 MicroATX

  • I can see why users complain about the LLC setting. Its either enabled or disabled.  <- I understand now, there's like 8 settings in total i think and its by percentage, maybe the Vdroop setting isn't a problem anymore. This feature is listed as Vcore Vdroop.
Nobody seems to revise their posts online saying the issues they had with the mobo in the past is now fixed with bios version upgrades.

  • For some reason the turbo boost is located underneath a sub division after Intel eist. ****.... I need eist on to use turbo.... I want turbo without that... its listed as Intel speedstep in uefi. How come this gen cpu doesn't come with Intel SpeedShift for my mobo?Note:** Note:** Found out that EVGA Z370 Micro w/ BIOS v1.16 has SST (Intel SpeedShift) as Intel Speedstep (EIST)... my request to have a separate toggle for this is NULL. I don't need it anymore. I'm happy because if this was using Speedstep which is a older technology revolving on software rather than hardware based then I would want it disabled because I thought that meant for some reason this mobo did not support the hardware version (SST) which is what I wanted. Turbo boost is great for non-OC. HWinfo shows SST in green BOLD means that it is set for this mobo in BIOS/UEFI... so i guess EVGA had this listed as EIST (Speedstep) rather than SST (SpeedShift)

https://www.anandtech.com...-responsive-processors
Terminology of EIST:
https://www.techopedia.com/definition/28...technology-eist

If they can fix all this. It's a great mobo for $90.
Note:** my cm storm quickfiretk keyboard can't use f12 button so I'm screwed when trying to get into bios right from a new bios upgrade or reset of cmos.

Probably demand too many things to that old mainboard and chip... Evga strongly improved their bioses with z390/490/590 lineup otherwise you will have to find another mobo if you want more options... either Evga or another brand but high end lineup to exploit all the capacities of your powerful 9700K
If you want to stay with the µatx format the MSI mpg z390 M gaming edge could be a good bargain or the Asus z390 M strix-E/F/H or TUF Gaming...

Can't believe you're having this much trouble with this board... Starting with 1.12 BIOS, you have some LLC control now.  1.16 introduced ReBAR support.  I can oc my 9900K to 5.3GHz and see 230W+ power pull under AVX.  This board is supposed have all those limiters turned off.  I do not have Extreme OC turned on.

For 24/7, I'm using a stable 5.2GHz that can pull around 210W under full load.  At 1.304v, that works to around 161A.

I only had issues with the d6 error 5 beeps. nothing else, i just wanted those issues fixed that's all. You sure you don't throttle with your z370 micro when pulling that much wattage? Users complain about that and they said fix was throttlestop, imo that's just a workaround because you have to open it everytime to run at startup. Dam lol. i wanna know what i can get this cpu at :) I'm worried if i don't have $ to spend, i'm pretty much going to fry a CPU quicker than i can make a paycheck for another one/a newer gen system. How long does a CPU last at that frequency?

Fairly sure it's not throttling. CBR 20 score is 5444 with security mitigations on.

Don't really know how long this CPU will last, but I've had it at 5GHz 1.224v manual override for 2 years and now 5.2GHz at 1.304v for 3 months after I went direct die.  I use auto LLC with override voltage of 1.456v in BIOS, so it drops to 1.408v at idle and droops to 1.288v under maximum AVX load, 1.304v at max non-AVX load.  I hope it lasts until the next CPU upgrade ;)

My issue with this board is that the VRM sensor would disappear after a while and hot reboots would shut down and I'd have to reset the CMOS on cold boots to get it to start.  It's a faulty VRM controller sensor, but I can live with it for the great CPU and RAM overclock with such good VRM cooling, now that it's also out of warranty.

I'm lost about what do you mean about the vrm sensor. Its just to make sure the temps show up right.. this isn't a z370 micro wide spread issue but just yours only correct?

Exactly. Its a good mobo for the price but features in uefi are lackluster.
