EVGA Z15 - Volume wheel extremely unresponsive

My Evga Z15 I recently got has an issue, where you have to turn the volume wheel a few rotations (sometimes more, sometimes less) to change the volume one step. So it is pretty much impossible, to quickly change the volume. When I first got it the volume worked as expected, but I installed the EVGA Unleash software, which installed a firmware update and I think the issue might have appeared after that.
The only similar issue I found is this reddit post: with a video which looks exactly like it is for me.
Is this a hardware issue or a firmware issue?
I also tried plugging it into my android phone, to exclude the possibility of a windows issue and it had the same behaviour there.

    Doing a factory reset in the settings fixed it, at least temporarily. I have no idea if it will come back once I redo all of my settings and will update here, if it does.

    Since you say that it seems like it showed up after the software was installed it’s likely resetting the settings fixed it instead of it being a physical issue.

    Probably a setting on how much it had to turn to adjust the volume level being really high.

    Yes it's definitely a firmware issue, since resetting fixed it. But there is no visible setting for this in the software and it was outside any usable range (multiple rotations for one volume step). But I have now redone most of my settings and have not reproduced the issue so far.
    I think last time it appeared after modifying the macros, which was a bit weird itself, with changes not applying immediately, so I had to apply a bunch of times.
    But I guess it's fixed for me at least and I hope it just was a weird rare occasion.
     
    I also tested OpenRGB for the effects (though I'm pretty sure it worked after that). Maybe that messed up some hidden settings in the keyboard firmware?
