Hey guys, here is my current oc.. any good ? no crashes so far , it´s been 4 months since i have this oc 24/7, and my load temps never reaches 70c°

Hey guys, this guide is very useful, and I think I might overclock my PC... I havent OC'd a PC for like 4 years now so I wanted to check something..

In regards to this section:

I have OCZ Platinum PC3-12800 DDR3 Ram 6gb kit
7-7-7 @ 1.65v  

I'm not sure what my settings here would be for my RAM?


And also, same goes for this setting as well:
"CPU Uncore Frequency to exactly double my memory multiplier, in this case 16x."

All a tad confusing... :(    Can anyone help me out?

Set the tCL timing, tRCD timing and tRP timing to 7 if you're running it at 1600 MHz.  Use a 2T command rate, auto tRFC setting and I don't know what the tRAS timing is supposed to be for your RAM.  Look at your RAM's product page and it should be listed.  If your memory has an XMP profile, then enabling it will set the RAM to its rated specifications.
 
As for the uncore frequency, it needs to be set to double your RAM speed (or 2x+1).  If you run your RAM at 1600 MHz, then your uncore frequency should be 3200 MHz.  To calculate uncore frequency you must use the following equation.
 
BCLK/QPI Frequency x Uncore Multiplier = Uncore Frequency
 
So Jacob, in the first post, had 1600 MHz RAM and a 200 MHz BCLK clock to begin with.  So he needed a 16x uncore multiplier.
 
200 MHz x 16x = 3200 MHz = double the RAM speed

Hey guys i'm pretty new here, however I've been an evga customer for while, I have a Evga Classified 4-way sli board (E762) and I'm running a Gulftown Core i7 980x, I'm trying to push my Cpu to 4.0ghz using a Zalman 9900CNPS NT Cooler could you guys let me know if these are alright? These are my settings.
 
134 x 30 = 4010MHZ
Vcore = 1.3250 (Vcore Idle = 1.317, Load = 1.329)
Temps Idle @ 19 - 22 Load with Prime95 goes all the way up to 80c. Please let me know if i'm in the clear with settings, i'm using the latest (77) Bios.  

An update to this thread would be awesome if there are any new options via bios or software updates. Seems a little dated in my opinion.

agreed but it is still relevant. personally i learned enough from this to apply this knowledge to other boards when overclocking x58

Right now running at 3.785 stable. HT On...  Temps hover between 70 - 75 full load, so I have to wait for my new block to come in before I push further... 
 
Couldnt find a 1366 mounting kit for my HeatKiller anywhere...

wow nice job overclocking ur RAM, really impressive numbers for your stability!

This is a VERY old guide, ment for the early C0 920 chips from 2 years ago.
 
You should NOT use any of the voltages listed on your 940 (you will damage it)
 
Reset BIOS to defaults and get your voltages back to safe values....
 
Then read up on CURRENT information about your I7 940 and what kinds of voltages can be used.
 
This guide is NOT for the CPU you are running, and lists voltages that could damage your CPU

DO NOT FOLLOW THIS GUIDE UNLESS YOU OWN AN i7 920 C0 CHIP.

Hey, I have a i7 920 DO and it needs a little bit more volts then most D0's since it's an older one. I've got it running using this guide but lowered the vcore since it was too much, I set it at 1.35v and it seems quite stable at 4.2. My question is I have 12GB of this ram.

It's rated for 1.5 and I have Vdimm set as 1.65 as per the guide, and running at 1600mhz, should I lower it down to 1.5v? Thanks. Also other then the vcore did the other voltage values in this guide seem too high? If I can keep lowering my vcore and leave everything else that would be perfect.

Run the memory at it's rated vDimm, there's no reason to run it higher unless its not stable or you want to try and tighten up timings or increase frequency.

 
Thanks for the reply. I Went ahead and changed it to 1.55, the sticks says 1.55v and the product page says 1.5v. Any ideas on the other voltages?

Would this quide work with an i7 930?
