I bought this mouse a couple of months ago, and just this past night the scroll wheel came loose. I know this was a feature on some Logitech mice, where you could unlock the scroll wheel, is this a feature, or do I need to go ahead and submit an RMA? Did I accidentally release the wheel or something like that?

You will probably have to submit a RMA. If it was Logitech, they would cover return shipping or tell you to keep the old mouse and send you a new one.

You'll need to RMA the mouse. Register your product: https://www.evga.com/support/register.asp if you haven't yet and you can submit a support ticket or if you are in the US or CA you can call our support team directly at 888-881-3842

Mine just broke the wheel's shaft, right where it connects with the sensor. Bought it 2 months and 3 days ago. Very disappointed to see a relatively soft, translucent, silicon like material to be at a high mechanical stress point in an $80 mouse. It seems from a quick search that there are no spare wheels available. Does anyone know where can I get one? (if that is even possible) I don't see a reason why I should trash it just because of that. Thanks.

My X17 that I bought back in May just developed this issue. It freely spins but doesn't actually scroll. The left, right, and middle click still work though. I just submitted a ticket in hopes of getting a RMA done quickly.

I had to RMA as well because the scroll wheel developed what I can only describe as a "double click" issue. It only registered a click when pressing hard and it sounded like it made two faint clicks when doing so. The mouse I received in return worked for about a month before the scroll wheel started feeling too loose, and would not always register clicks. The scroll function worked fine on both. I just replaced the x17 with a Logitech G Pro X Superlight. The difference is crazy. The G pro is far superior imo but it costs a lot more.

I just got the exact same problem with an EVGA X17. After less than 4 months of use the scroll wheel became loose and stopped working.

I sent mine in last week and they received it on Thursday. The replacement was shipped out the same day and should get here Wednesday. I had no option for advanced RMA which was a bit disappointing. It wouldn't be surprising if this is a design flaw and I fully expect to run into this problem again in the near future.

I received my replacement two days ago and it was a brand new sealed mouse. However, it has already developed a double middle click issue. I'm thinking I should just buy another mouse and RMA this one in a year or two when they get these issues worked out.

So far mine have both been working fine but it’s something I will be looking out for. Luckily I got mine on the first Elite sale they had so it wasn’t much and so far I really have liked the mouse and it seems like this issue could be fixed with a new wheel. It also could just be a problem with one batch of wheels.

FWIW the mouse wheel is definitely all around stiffer. The original I had was a little wobbly out of the box and I had issues with the side tilt clicks activating when I pressed the wheel down. The double click issue is very inconsistent so I'm wondering if it's a software or firmware problem at this point. My Z20 keyboard has issues with WASD sometimes getting "stuck" (not physically) and they won't deactivate until I press that key again.

Try remapping the middle click to either left or right click then test it here https://codepen.io/blink172/pen/vERyxK. Could be an issue with the micro switch itself for the scroll wheel or could be fixed by adjusting the debounce via firmware.

I get roughly 4 fast double clicks per 100 middle clicks with the middle switch. When mapped to the left or right it doesn't have any issues. When it does double click that site shows them anywhere between 65-75 milliseconds with nothing lower. Is it possible adjust the debounce via firmware myself?

You won't be able to adjust the debounce. I may suggest trying a factory reset through Unleash by clicking on the gear icon on the top left.

Ran into the same issue today sadly, tried to go through the RMA process but got stuck when it asked for a support ticket number. So I called customer service and they said its a new thing and youd need to call to get a support ticket made or email them in order to initiate the RMA process online. But when I called the agent did the whole process on their side and I didnt have to do anything at all.

Mine made it about 3 months before I had the no scroll wheel issue, it just spun freely. Never had an EVGA product break on me as quickly as this mouse did.

It looks like mine just broke as well have had it about 3 months. Time to RMA i guess but it's a bit concerning that so many folks are having this issue

This is an older thread, but it concerns the specific issue that I just started experiencing with my X17 scroll wheel. The wheel spins freely, does not respond to control inputs, and has more play than before. The mouse is 14 months old and is used everyday. I am going to start the process of an RMA and see if that is worth the hassle of just buying another one. There is a big rebate on X17's right now.

IMO, I wouldn't buy another since I'm on my fourth X17 now. I highly suggest just utilizing their warranty until the issues (hopefully) get fixed.

Any update on this? Curious if the scroll wheel issue is resolved. I just purchased a X17 off the website.

Mine just broke in the same way. Scroll wheel spins freely with no effect. Have no desire to get another one. This mouse is not worth the hassle of an rma.

I just bought the X17 mouse and after now reading about so many issues with the scroll wheel I’m starting to regret my purchase. Luckily it was on sale for $19.99. It arrives today… so I guess I’ll see how long it lasts. It doesn’t appear to be a small batch of bad ones since these issues have been ongoing for a couple years now…. I’m curious as to why EVGA hasn’t made any production changes to fix this well known issue. :/

I have the same issue. I got mine in Feb'22 and it is spinning freely and doesn't scroll anymore. It wasn't working perfectly before as well, it doesn't register 50% of the time when I tried to scroll. This mouse is not worth it, it doesn't even do what a normal mouse does properly. **update: Did an RMA from Toronto, cost me about $12 for shipping, so I figured it's worth another chance. They sent an X20 back, I hope this one won't have the same issue.**

Sad to report my scroll wheel also just stopped working, and I've never abused it. Seems like a defect which is quite unfortunate, I liked it right until it broke as I was scrolling on a web page. I'm in Canada so shipping and possible tarriffs for a replacement mean it's probably not worth the RMA, especially if it's an issue that could happen with the replacement too.
