Just arrived to replace my 8 year old corsair hx850i, and this thing is loud. With eco mode off, it's the loudest part in my desktop. With eco mode off, it randomly spins up for no reason...what?
 
My system draw is 650 watts peak according to my UPS. (rtx 3090, 12700kf)
 
I'd hate to have to RMA it, but I doubt much can be done about it. Why such loud fan?

Yeah this thing is abnormally loud. I think the fan in ecomode doesn't even turn on at all until it gets too hot resulting in the loud rush when it immediately goes to full speed.  Not obnoxious, but definitely annoying when it's the loudest thing in my PC by far. It doesn't appear to be a defect so I'm not gonna RMA it, but its something EVGA needs to take a look at for future models or revisions of the 1600W P+ and G+

i agree this unit is extra loud. at first i thought my cpu fans were spinning intermittently like a burst application was running or something but then i checked on my software monitors and its not the case fans nor cpu fans doing the random loud whoosing of fan noise then i figured it was the evga 1600 P+ psu fan! If I turn off the eco mode, the psu fan noise were very loud! As im typing right now i can hear the fan back up again and its annoyingly loud.
Of the more than 10 years ive been building pc's this psu fan noise is the worst. All the other psu ive owned including thermaltake, corsair and even my 5 yr old evga 850 p2 is more quiet than this super high end 1600w psu. I already contacted customer support to see if I can RMA this unit. It seems that the previous 1600 P2 units have the same fan ramping up issue. For now is there a way we can control this psu fan speed? its really obnoxious and annoying to hear this single fan making more noise than my 9 fan corsair 5000x case. 

Dang is that true?! I was really hoping it was an issue but if you already RMA'd one and got the same issue with the new unit I guess it's really the subpar quality check of EVGA that made this through the testing phase. Anyways I hope I get lucky if I do get the RMA of my unit. Thanks so much for your input on this! Appreciate it..
