So, I haven't built a PC in a few years, but when I decided on my case (the Phanteks Evolv X) I was bitten by the RGB bug. But it can't be just any RGB, it has to be Addressable RGB! So when I got my new 2080TI FTW3, I had to go to work!
I removed the existing RGB LED daughter board (just 3 screws) and saved it in an anti-static bag. Then I had to dremel the trim kit just a bit so my LED strip would fit. I used a Phanteks D-RGB kit and cut it down to 15 LEDS. I also 3D printed a small spacer to keep the LED strip from touching the logo panel so that the light would blend better.
The wires for the LED strip are held in place by the trim kit piece so it's pretty stable in there. I'm controlling this as well as the other ARGB components in my case with an Arduino Uno using the FastLED library.
