I can't figure out how to install a custom skin I downloaded. I got the file from the site but it isn't even the same extension. The files I downloaded are usf instead of uxf.

You need the skin tool. If it was a .uxf then you could have just copy and paste it in the skin directory as i have done it that way but i am not sure if a .usf would work that way.

I'm having problems adding a skin that has the .usf file extension. It's one made by Drerex, but it was for a previous version of Precision X, so I imagine that it might not be compatible anyway. Well, if anyone has some insight to this problem, help would be appreciated. Cheers, CRS10114

vldmtr Hi, help me change the color of the indicator boost clock - Windows\WND_MAIN\Indicators\IND_CORE_CLOCK\Boost. I change the color, apply changes and then save as my skin file. When i close the window and check the skin in the window EVGA Precision X 16, i always get boost clock only black color. In General, when apply of any changes on this tab, the indicators changes according to the next color scheme: the Boost is black, Base as was Boost, Select as was Base, Background as was Select. What am I doing wrong?
You have to import the skin first in the tool, then make changes to the file you want, then export it and save. Make sure to close the file in whatever tool you are using to edit it in before exporting. Like if you are using photoshop to change the color of something save the file and close it, do not keep it open in photoshop. You can get an error and it will make a .tmp file and another folder with same name and name original folder with a 0 at end of name for example: "default0". Hope this helps.

Hello all, I am currently making a theme for the program similar to the ClassifiedX skin that comes with the program. It will be black and purple and pretty much the exact same as pmorales40 skin above ^^^^^^^^^ There will be slight differences, i.e. the EVGA logo and the background itself. If anyone is confused as to how to make a skin for their program I'd be happy to show you how. And a side note, the skin isn't for a specific graphics card. Each skin will work with every graphics card because the program detects which card is being used. pmorales40 Can anyone help me with putting this skin I made somewhere where it can be downloaded. I have attached an image of the skin so if anyone is interested or if you would just like to comment about it I would appreciate all replies. thank you.
And pmorales40, I would recommend posting a link to a mediafire download if it's allowed on the forums.

vldmtr Again, in order: 1. Change the name of the skin. 2. To export the configuration into a new skin file under the new name. 3. To close the Skin TOOL. Now preserved under the internal name of the skin (for Precision) and the actual name of the file. 4. To put a new skin file in the skins folder of Precision. Guys, new skin came flowing in the settings menu, do not forget to restart Precision
These are the only instructions available for the tool. Here is my take: When you import a skin, UxfTool creates a subdirectory (folder) with that skins name. This is VERY IMPORTANT to know. Steps: 1. import defaultX.uxf or any uxf file you want to use as the source 2. In the UFX Tool, go into [info] then type a short descriptive [Name] like "My cool skin". NOTE: This is very important, because this is how you get the skin to show up in PrecisionX's menu. 3. click [apply] 4. now [export] and give the new file a name like bada$$.uxf 5. Important: Now Import the file you just exported eg. bada$$.uxf 6. observe that there is now a subdirectory (folder) with the same name as your file. It would seem to make sense that you would now quit the skin tool so you can go edit the bitmaps in your new subdirectory(folder). The problem with that is, how do you load the skin now without overwriting the files in that folder as soon as you import it? As I see it, when you import a uxf file, it extracts the contents into the directory overwriting your files. Please help...

I figured out a method to make this work. While you have UXFTool still open and your skin imported, copy an edited BMP into the directory for that file before exporting again. Here is a little edit I did to add a couple of well known characters to your skin. More to come if anybody wants... sorry folks, the site wont allow links. dont know if this will work, but here is the url for the file... I put it here: drive dot google dot com /open?id=0B_-5nvuxy-j7X0w1dGR0b1N3LTA cmon EVGA let us share work...

shadow, there is no password on the ClassifiedX.uxf file. The file I have is dated 9/25/2015, 3828KB. If you want, I can email my copy of that file to you. Just PM me with your email address. Tip, make sure there isn't a ClassifiedX.tmp file or folder before import. Delete or rename them.

Imgur resampled this as a PNG, so you will need to make it a BMP file 787 x 545 dimensions and name it SkinBase.BMP. Remember, Import ClassifiedX, copy your new SkinBase.BMP into the ClassifiedX folder, in software fill in new [Info] / [Name] and [apply], then export with NEW file name. PrecisionX will look like this:

Question - will old skins work on Precision X / Precision X OC? I have an old skin "Kingpin Cooling - Tek 9" that I have always liked, and use it on Precision v.4.2.1, wondering if it will work with the new Precision versions. *edit* ...I just realized that the old Precision GPU clock dial only goes up to 1500MHz, the newer Precision X goes up to 2000MHz, and Precision X OC goes up to 2500MHz, so I'm guessing that might be a problem, lol.

pstlouis I will like to have a introductory tutorial for the use of the evga skin tool.
Same here. Maybe I'm missing something, but this seems to be an extremely difficult project, to find a pre-made skin, or how to use the tool itself. Does EVGA not provide custom skins based on my model? (1060 SC 6 GB) It would be really nice to see that model number next to the Precision X OC label. It's certainly not a huge deal, I just have the feeling that I should easily be able to find a database of different EVGA models, and corresponding skins. Little help?

Not a single working XOC skin exists, every time XOC updates the Ui all skins have to be rebuilt. I fixed mine for the ICX update then it broke again with the triple fans update.
