Hello everyone.

I've been trying to control my RTX 3080Ti FTW3 ULTRA card's fan speeds via the Precision X1 utility. Under any sort of load, FAN1 seems to take off to the moon and ramps up instantly to around 3000RPM. The fan doesn't seem to respond to any changes made to the Auto, Manual, and Fan Curve settings. No matter what I set up, FAN1 does its own thing which creates a lot of noise which I'd prefer to tone down even slightly, if possible.

Any suggestions? Mobo BIOS and the RTX VBIOS are up-to-date.

You are on the OC bios? Have you re-seated the card on your motherboard? Using 3 separate pcie cables? Uninstalled and reinstalled nvidia drivers using DDU?

    1) I switched from Normal to OC. No difference with the fans. In both cases FAN1 spins up to 3000rpm under load (a few moments after loading up Red Dead Redemption 2).

    2) I've reseated the card and am using three separate cables to connect the PSU to the RTX. The latter change was mainly out of curiosity - I have a Corsair HX850i which came with some 1-to-2 PCIE splitter cables (basically draws 300W from a single 8 pin on the PSU that then splits it off to two 8 pins for the GPU). Previously this allowed me to use a total of two cables, but using a separate cable for each 8pin makes no difference with regards to FAN1.

    3) Also yes, no difference.

Can you go to the fan curve page of X1 and see if the first box on the top left is ticked? To make sure if your fans are using a preset curve, maybe something weird happened to the other 2 fan curves?

Aside from this I would contact EVGA and see if there is a tool to flash the stock firmware for the card. Just another thought before you would try to RMA it.

Sorry to revive the thread but did you find a solution, I'm having the exact same issue that you're having.
