Hello,

I just bought and installed a new EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti XC video card.  I'm getting a Passmark GPU 3D benchmark score of 15,909.  The Passmark average for this card is 19,972 (the non-Ti benchmark score is 16,755).  Why is my score so low?  Is there anything I could/should investigate/change to up my score (without overclocking)?

This new 3060 card replaced my old EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 SC Ultra Gaming video card.  My 1660 video card 3D benchmarked at 11,454 and the Passmark average for this card is 11,639.  Also, other video cards I've benchmarked over the years typically score within 10% of the Passmark values.  Based on this, I believe Passmark's scores don't reflect fancy settings, overclocking, etc., but reflect average builds.

My build uses the following components: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU and MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus motherboard.  The 3060 Ti video card is running PCI v4.0 x16 according to GPU-Z.

Thanks in advance,

Use DDU to uninstall drivers and reinstall chipset drivers + GPU drivers and rerun the test also see is you motherboard bios is up to date

Verify both pcie power is plugged in securely. Do you have gsync enabled for the test? If so disable it.

I used DDU v18.0.4.8 in Safe Mode to uninstall my Nvidia drivers.  After reboot, I installed a fresh copy of the Nvidia driver.  I also installed the latest chipset driver for my motherboard.  The 3D benchmark score is now 16,096 instead of 15,909.  I consider that the same score considering the values are so close.  Any other ideas?

That was it!  First, I modified my G-Sync frequency from 60Hz to 120Hz and my 3D benchmark score jumped up to 17,977.  Then, I disabled G-Sync and the score jumped up to 19,856.  Thanks for all your help!

No problem! What happened was GSync was holding your new card back, when disabled, it allowed the card to stretch it’s legs and run full out.
Be mindful to always disable it when benchmarking, and enable it when gaming!

As a matter of curiosity, Unigine's Superposition always reports the same benchmark value, 19,472 (ish), regardless of G-Sync setting.  Why does Passmark care an Superposition does not?  Again, thanks for your help!

In general don't use Passmark or Superposition to evaluate your performance. It's much better to use 3Dmark (free version is fine) for comparing and diagnosing performance issues. Most of the people here will ask you for a benchmark that the vast majority of people use and are familiar with. 3Dmark gives you a more detailed analysis of your runs, a link for others to compare and inspect as well as your average clock speeds, temperatures and frames all in graphs and readouts.

The free version on Steam is all you need and is a far more reliable benchmark.
