I have been trying to install my GTX 780 in my new rig, but whenever I do, the screen stays blank, and tells me It doesn't have a signal/ the Signal input is out of range. I have not hears the log-in chime, but once, and it was slow and distorted. This is all way over my head now, and i really need help and assistance.

Try putting the card in another pci-e slot and see if it boots up ?

Had this issue a few times at work. Whi ch display do you have? And what os you run? Can you get in the f8 menu for windows? It could be that for the new driver it is trying to show a resolution that your display cant use/view There is an option on bootup to reset vga and normally windows will set it to some retro 800x600 and then run the display config to find a working resolution. In win7 it should be f8 at boot and in the list there should be something there with VGA in the description. Dont remeber and cant look up now. For win8 its in the advanced boot options. Ps: what was your previous card?

When I installed my 780 first time I had weird black screen too, couldn't even boot into windows. Here is what I did and it fixed the issue 1. Reset my bios with reset switch on the board (Fatality x79 Professional), this allowed me to get into bios, 2. Downloaded bios update for my mobo to usb and updated UEFI to newest version (this is suggested for 780 in instructions, evga one at least) 3. Booted into windows and uninstalled all nvidia drivers, ran driver sweeper, restarted and installed 700 series drivers, everything works great. Try these if you can, also do you have another card which you can boot into windows with?

So far, your problem sounds the MOST like mine. I'm afraid that when i try to access bios menu(MSI 970A-G46), it won't even show up on the EVGA GTX-780. but I'm reading into it. what tools would you suggest i use?

Clear CMOS (bios reset) using reset button on your motherboard, usually found on a back I/O panel where all the ports are, or some boards have it along the bottom of the board near power/reset header, and see if you can get into bios. What mobo do you have?

Ok so since you have a second card do these steps, 1.Make sure bios is set to default (you said it already is) 2.Boot into windows with gt440 and unistall all display drivers (ndvidia and amd if you have them), use driver sweeper to clean out any left over diplay drivers (you can download it from guru3d just google driver sweeper). 3. Get newest bios update for your motherboard from MSI site and follow their update instructions (should be able to just use usb since its UEFI board) 4. After you updated mobo bios, install gtx780 and see if you can boot into windows, if you can install newest nvidia 700 drivers and you're good to go.

Uninstall through control panel, restart then run driver sweeper and it will detect any leftovers from nvidia/amd display drivers, remove those using driver sweeper.

Okay. I've uninstalled all drivers and I'm not using "live Update 5" from the MSI website to update my MoBo. I'ts been at it for awhile, and it's just 1%, so bear with me.

I prefer to flash bios out of windows with usb, but as long as your bios gets updated I suppose it doesn't matter.

Yes thats why I prefer the old fashioned way of flashing bios, so basically when youre done flashing bios, boot into bios and check your version make sure its the newest one, just to be sure that you did flash it.

Make sure when your BIOS update is complete, restart...boot into BIOS - load optimized defaults - save changes and reboot again.

this is my first build. my other PC was a HP model, with a video card i bought so I could get into the wonderful world that is PC gaming, and it's the same video card that I'm using to remove drivers and such- a GTX 440 or something. Are you sure I only have to install the BIOS? Because this also lists drivers like AMD chipset Drivers, Realtek PCIE Network and HD audio drivers. MSI utilities: Control Center, Easy Viewer, Fast Boot, Super-Charger, Video Genie. Other utilities: Norton's Aweful internet security, and Safesync

you're over thinking, all you have to do is put the parts together and youre good to go, no driver should prevent you from booting into the windows, sometimes bios needs to be updated in order to support newer hardware like cpu, or higher speed ram, but bios update is completely different thing from driver update, drivers run in windows, you cant even get into windows. Okay lets start from the beginning, this is a new build so list all the components you are using.

Okay, slow down man, and do what I suggest, did you check your UEFI version in bios? if it matches the version you installed and all is well and you didn't do anything wrong.
