Just received my new GTX 590 HydroCoppers, and I have to praise EVGA for such sheer physical beauty of construction.  Even as compared to my two-year-old GTX 295 HydroCopper, these new GPUs have a better-looking, more-solid-feeling liquid block & backplate.

But they are also SO HEAVY that I'm genuinely concerned about the long-term safety of mounting them in typical fashion (i.e., plugged horizontally into a vertically-mounted motherboard, with nothing more to support their massive weight than that small sliver of PCB plugged into the PCI-e slot, and screwed into the case via the PCI bracket).  Surely something this heavy will warp, or even break?  And if this is a valid concern, what solutions has anyone had to help support the near edge of such GPUs (besides buying a new case with GPU supports)?

They really are heavy; but, from what I can remember, no heavier than the GTX 480 HC's and maybe even less so.  Yet, with the double slot to accomodate the 3 inputs, there's more stability to the card, and consequently, less "sagging," so I wouldn't be to concerned for any kind of detrimental warping or breaking.  That's just my guess, but maybe someone else has a different opinion.

Enjoy your new card; it's awesome!!!

My 590s do not sag. I would lay your case flat so you are not fighting gravity. Install your cards, and tighten each thumbscrew together so the screws don't create any bends on the card either.

Thanks for your replies.  I feel reassured, and will try to find time to build them in next week (after doing the taxes of course).

I installed my 590 last week and just did a mild OC to 683, no voltage mod.  The card does not seem to have any issues but my question is that when I run the Capcom Lost Planet benchmark, with everything high I get around 43 to 45fps average at 5760x1080 across three screens.  When I switch to a single screen 1920x1080, I get the same score and some areas appear to be slower????  It would seem to me they should be much higher since I am pushing 2/3 less pixels.  This happens even after closing and reopening the benchmark.  Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

I just got my GTX590 Hydro Copper today, I have to agree with my fellow owners it is really sexy, heavy but a sexy card. That waterblock is amazing, and that full back plate is really cool as well , it was so worth it.
Now I just need a 6-Core Sandy Bridge-E CPU and motherboard for my new build , come on Intel speed it up.

All I have to say about these babies is man do they sell out quick. They were on sale for one day and the next they're no longer in stock.

That looks pretty bad a$$!  Looks like you dumped quite a bit of money into the PC and the Keyboard... Why still running a 17in monitor?!?!?  That's a little bit of overkill for 1280x1024.

For the 590s, does it really matter if we install them in PCI-e slots that are only x8 electrically?  Or do they truly have to be in x16 slots?  And what if we do quad SLI ----- with one card in a x16, and the other in a x8?  (Please note I know that the slots have to be physically x16 - I'm asking only about the electrical x16 vs. x8.)

Oh my word, I just bought one on friday! I'm so excited! Time to move this antiquated GTX580HC2 over to my other system and get rid of that archaic GTX480. Goodness gracious, I'm going to do a dance when I get this thing in.

Greetings. This is my first post after buying a GTX590 Hydro Cooper. Although this seems like a closed forum i have to ask. I know this has been asked before but i couldn't find an appropriate answer. Does the mini display port on this card handles audio? Could i use a mini-DP to HDMI converter without problems? I don't want to use any of the DVI ports because i plan to use them for 3D vision surround. Thanks in advance for your kind response

It does have audio on the mini display port.

magoo25 The absolute best dual chip solution is most likely the HD 6990, with performance close to dual GTX 580s and easily overclocked with the flip of a BIOS switch. The absolute performance crown goes to HD6990 and HD 6970 in Triple Crossfire, that can be purchased for just under the cost of two GTX 580s.

But if the Triple Crossfire X solution can't compare in terms of performance to two GTX 580s in SLI... how much less is it against two 590s in SLI?
