I Just got my system up and running and have been trying to overclock it. Currently i have three cards installed. i am unable to raise the voltage on either the memory or the gpu core. the default voltage for the gpu was 1.15v. and im not sure about the voltage on the memory because i cant remember which one links to it but i can raise any voltages. Any help is appreciated. System: CPU: Intel Core i73960x@4.2GHZ Mother Board: ASUS RIVE GPUs: EVGA GTX 580 Classified Ultra@980mhz/ 2150mhz VRAM RAM: Mushkin redline@2133mhz Power supply: Silverstone st1500 1500w PSU SSD: OCZ Vertex 3 120GB

Sorry to asia basic question, you did slide the little switch on the card to over clock mode?

my apologies in my original post i had forgot to mention that it was only on one card, i had missed one of the cards and that was why i couldnt change the voltage on that card, sorry noob mistake, lol, another question regarding oc scanner. i can run the benchmark on that just fine and when i use the artifact scanner part it doesnt show any artifacts but if i launch unigine heaven it artifacts like a *****. Which can cause slight issues because sometimes it doesnt just do that and will actually cause my cards to shut down even tho they run fine on the oc scanner or furmark.

Not stressful enough, not even when you turn on the heavy mode or whatever. Not even Heaven is very stressful. You want Stressful, put 3DMark11 on Extreme and just run the GPU Test on loop for 30 minutes. I was having issues with BF3 and it was passing Heaven. Then after a couple weeks of crashes I decided to try 3DMark11 on Extreme and I could not pass them until I lowered the overclock some. So ditch OCS. Program is junk, and so is Furmark. Also Furmark stress a card way beyond what a game will ever do and not in any normal way either. I have seen reports where it has killed cards. Stick to Heaven and 3DMark11.

alright loveha thanks for all you help, but i have one final question for you regarding my core voltage, i am trying to push for 1 ghz on each card, which i know is harder with tri sli, but i have been doing some research and i see people doing that with 1.15v, right now i have my cards at 1.19375v with precision, but what kinda confuses me is the whole NV VDD think with the classifieds instead of changing the VGPU, are these voltages actually different? or are they the same?

Not sure. I do know with my non Ultra I had to push it to 1.3000 NV VDD for 1GHz and it still was not entirely stable.

I have a question about the Ultra as well. This is on the kid's computer not the ones in my sig. Anyway we have shut down the computer switched to oc bios, rebooted. Downloaded latest precision x, reinstalled nvidia driver. When I go to adjust the voltage it will not go past the default of 1.15. Am I missing something here? Thought the oc switch would unlock voltage adjustments past default? Afterburner no go either. System specs= Asus Sabertooth I7 950, 12GB GSkill, Corsair 850TX, 580 Classified Ultra. Not a big deal as he is stepping up to a 680, just confused if anybody can enlighten us we'd appreciate it.

VGPU should be greyed out in Precision.

Okay thanks love but I don't see that either. Just the voltage adjustment which will not adjust down or up or at all. Is there some other software that is required to adjust voltage beyond the default? thanks again

Yes got that.. I don't know how to do screenshots but I get a totally different interface and all it shows is gpu voltage in an animated graph. No other adjustments available. This is with the latest precision just downloaded today. Version 3.0.2 Is this what you have? Let me try another reboot heck this is wierd.

Yep, that is what I use.Mine is not even in Overclock mode right now. What driver are you using? Got to go, so I will not be back till tomorrow, so hopefully someone else comes along. Screen shots. Hit the Print Screen Button, Open Paint, Ctrl V, Crop Image. Then on the EVGA Forums, Open up full Version to reply, click on the paper clip, select image file.

So your getting the option to adjust NV VDD (3D) in precision without having your 580 classified in OC mode?

The new version of precision does not have the NVTune anymore. evga.com/forums/fb.ashx?m=1542261 Go there and download it. It was swapped to a new in-house design, but it is not setup for the Classy's yet.

You can also use E-LEET to adjust the NV VDD (3D) voltage http://www.evga.com/eleet/ Also, you should be able to download the previous version of Precision which has full voltage adjusting capability. This newest version is currently broken for the 580 Classifieds voltage adjusting.

I will do that thanks for all the help gentlemen! Now one more question I have about the NV VDD adjustment. I assume this boosts performance so is it best to leave the card at stock core and memory clocks or max these out then use this adjustment? What is the highest VDD you can achieve on your card? Thanks again

The GTX 580 Classified Ultra can go up to 1.3v (units aren't given, not sure if v or mv) on the NV VDD (3d) voltage. I run my 2 GTX 580 Classified Ultra's in SLI at 950mhz on stock voltages. Also, not sure how much overclocking the memory does, I've not seen ANY gains in any benchmarks from doing so. Maybe because my setup doesn't ever cap vram, not sure.

Thanks for the help rand I will play with it when I get home. Work is getting in the way of my fun again. Now one last question that never really got answered. I assume it is just not possible to unlock and raise the stock gpu voltage on these cards? Thanks have a good day
