Ok, few more tweaks. Definately looks like the 4th card with the 3 way SLI bridge isn't even being used for Physx. I might put my 285GTX in the 4th location and see if the NVIDIA control panels lets me select that one for Physx

Klint I won't be dropping cash on 4-way 480 SLi either and I don't feel the need to criticize the OP's decisions unless he starts sending me the bills. +1 Some of you sound like sour grapes. Keep it to yourselves. It a real nasty, and mean thing to do. The OP simply sharing something that some of us will never see, but have that burning "what If" question in our minds. WOW!

What's your CPU speed? I've seen GTX 295 Quad-SLI setups get close to 50k. See here. http://www.evga.com/community/modsrigs/default.asp The GTX 480 is faster than the GTX 295, but that doesn't mean much in Vantage I suppose. I expected two GTX 480s to score over 40k easily, three over 50k, four over 50k with a highly overclocked i7. The top score uses an i7 980X and two GTX 295s. 48k.

If ever EVGA can get some 480 FTW cards in stock and by some miracle they also allow me to buy 3 I plan on breaking 50K. Hopefully this 930 @5GHz will allow that. Your scores are looking great though stevemr2t keep pushing it. On a side note that quad SLI setup hitting 48K is very nice especially since his 980X is only at 3.7Ghz.

I placed a fan at the end of the cards blowing cool air from the stock fan side to the back of the case. Helped a LOT with temps and time before the stock fans started kicking in. The 4 Series cards arent scaling worth a crap with Tri SLI. Hopefully driver updates can fix this, because right now you are getting horrible Price\Performance with Tri\Quad SLI. PhysX artificially inflates the CPU score. Futuremark never intended for the test to be run on GPU's.

Vantage is not a great indicator for these 4 series cards. Also the drivers obviously will get much better here in the future.

Comparing results from the 295's is not a good representation of what these 400 series cards can do as they are single gpu's. Two vs a dual-GPU, yes. ;)

daveyd007 Comparing results from the 295's is not a good representation of what these 400 series cards can do as they are single gpu's. Two vs a dual-GPU, yes. ;) There is nothing wrong with that. The cards offer similar performance, who cares about the amount of GPUs? The less GPUs the better, since SLI doesn't scale perfectly. That's yet another reason GTX 480s should offer higher scores. But 3DMark has always been strange. The 4800 series got low Vantage scores.
