since there is the thread with temp question i decided to post my question here and not to make completely new thread , hopefully is okay :)
1month ago i bought 3080 12GB XC3 Black and i noticed it runs pretty hot (my previous GPU was 1070ti) hot i mean 92c hotspot and 88c MJ temp i tested it few times and i was thinking my case dont have the best airflow Aorus C300g , but when i removed the side panel the temps drop by 3-4c and i was thinking if the case had really bad airflow those temps would go down 10c+ so i was wondering if this temps are fine for this gpu or i should be thinking or replacing thermalpads/paste completely? there are results with side panel off and on
there the gpu is oc with 150 core and 350 memory at 104% power limit and 91c temp limit , fan speed is 70% without side panel and 80% with the panel
i ran superposition 20min without the side panel and 25min with the side panel.
I also did undervolt because i was scared of those temps xD i undervolt to 0.8v @1800mhz and runs around 76-77 with the panel on , which is 5c again margin but anyway i decided to leave it with the OC without the panel on because i dont know if 92c hotspot and 88c MJ is fine for this kind of GPU , but if its fine i will just leave the panel on for less dust inside the case and be okay with the temps
P.S front panel of the case is my AIO rad with intake fans
I dont have any screenshots to compare, but after using for a month, I am idling around 29 to 33c and on load in games at 60 to 67c
I currently have 3 monitors connected, 2 1920x1080p 27inch 240hz set to 60hz and 1 4k 60hz. Running 240hz 1080p and running 4k60hz uses about the same temps.
My fans are set to 40% on idle and hit 80 to 88% on load. Ambient room temps in house is set to 74F
My 1080ti that I replaced would idle 23 to 28c and hit 56 to 65c game dependent. So this card is running about 10c hotter. It is worth noting that when I was using a P400a case, my 1080ti was reaching 77c, a bigger case dropped the temp on load by over 20c. I also havd my aio front mounted on the P400A, its top mounted in the P500A
My Full system specs
I7 9700K@ 4.6Ghz, boosting to 4.8Ghz at times
32GB DDR4 ram @ 3200mhz(16x2)
1TB m.2 drive
2TB SSHD
Z390UD mobo
750watt Corsair Gold rated PSU
ML 360R 360mm AIO
P500A case(looks like the P400A but is big enough the P400A could fit inside it)
Replaced exhaust fan with a Noctura for better air.
So far, my GPU hasnt seen over 67C since I set the fans to aggressive. Only the RTX Quake game had it running hot, but I didnt have my fans set yet.
Also its just turning spring, so I am expecting temps to reach 75ish on load come summer. I am also not using the Boost Lock in EVGA Precision X1 APP, which I think would cause a few C's more. Havent needed to use it, so I am not.
I have not undervolted or overclocked my card.
Hope this gives you some insight.
