Hello, The only thing that holding me from upgrading, is the heat issue that 10xx family cards have. (GPU Throttling) The card's that can use the cooler right now are just to low for me. (always bought FTW > classified) will there ever going to be a Hybrid cooler for GTX 1080 FTW model ?

1080 FTW shouldn't cost that much. List price should be 680. You don't have to take our word for the FTW hybrid kit. Just search the forums. Jacob Freeman has tweeted and spoken about the hybrid kits on the EVGA podcast. They will be come later this month or way August last I heard.

Tnx, but i wonder did he mean hybrid that launched at this moment or did he actually spoken about FTW ? you are right about the price but alas... can't find any place that sells it at MSRP price and in stock :S

Don't quote me on this one, not 100% sure. They haven't been very definitive about the date of release other than "soon". Since the reference and FTW PCB based cards are selling out like hotcakes, they may be prioritizing them over making Hybrid cards. It's an open Question if they sell the card or the kit first.
I was thinking about getting they hybrid kit, but then realized I like the RGB lights more than I care about card temperature. Mine Clocks over 2 ghz on air without much effort.
I would keep an eye on Jacob's twitter feed for stock. I ended up using my phone with fingerprint sensor and paypal to buy card quickly. Didn't even use my EVGA bucks. Followed Jacob's link, added to cart (was already signed in on chrome), selected paypal for payment which redirected to the paypal app, which just asked for my fingerprint before approving the purchase.

there shouldn't be any throttling with an aftermarket cooling solution as long as your case has proper airflow. my card runs at 2101 all day without any throttling.

i owned a Founders Edition 1080 before my Strix 1080 (build in sig). although i was able to achieve a higher max OC (2152) with my FE, it throttled to the 1900's to 2000's during gaming/benching. i just got done playing GTA V for an hour and 19 mins and my GPU peaked at 51*c. it usually floats around mid 40's to low 50's during gaming and i don't even hear it.

At reasonable temps of mid 70s, I get 2Ghz or more in most games. Folding really stresses it out and pulls a consistent 1987Mhz. Not looking for much more than that. I will of course hit up the next version of Precision X OC and let it auto tune.

i've already posted this in the Custom Fan Curve thread: the performance with cards that have AIB coolers will depend on your case's airflow. this is my setup: i can't even hear my GPU's fans until about 70%-75%, but it never has to get that high. just look at the fan curve i set.

After using hybrids from 980 hybrid, to 980ti hybrid, and then I tried using the Strix 1080 for a while...I can't quite settle with air temperatures. I too am waiting for the hybrid now, that and, someone offered me a lot of money for my strix...couldn't say no for both reasons.

http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=400-HY-5188-B1 I believe it was in stock at some point last week. I assume you're outside of USA though so no idea what that means for you.
That cooler specifically states that it doesn't work on the Classified or FTW. They have a larger PCB than the all the other cards on a reference PCB.
What use is knowledge if there is no understanding?~Stobaeus

Yea, and the FTW Hybrid cooler also must be unique since the FTW has no blower fan. I used hybrids for my titans, but the hybrid was dependent on the blower fan on the original card to cool the memory chips. I'm curious at to what the FTW hybrid will be like due the obvious difference. Any ETA?
