So I just instlled my new GTX 1080 FTW and as soon as the pc turned on I was going to download the latest driver as that's what you normally do when you get a new piece of hardware. Although GeForce Experience says I already have the latest driver even though I've never owned a GTX 1080 before, how? Does it use the same driver as my old GTX 770?

Because NVidia uses a unified driver architecture. If you had the latest driver already installed it would simply recognize the 1080 and install any extra driver features automatically.

I would still go to Nvidia's website and select your card and OS from the drop down menus (in the "Driver" section), and re-download the latest driver for your card.  Select "Custom Install", and then check the small box that says "Perform a clean installation."  Then you'll be set.

I also would recommend unchecking the box for the GeForce Experience, unless you want it.
