my guess is they will be available next week.  it took the 480's 3 weeks to be available, so the sr-2 should only take 1 week

Just missed it.  I wonder how many they had in inventory b4 selling out.

EVGA should use a little common sense.  They need to limit the SR-2 orders to 1 per person until they can catch up to demand.  Now these boards will be selling on ebay for double or more.  There no way these could have sold out so quick unless people were bulk buying.

I vote for EVGA to limit to 1 per person + offer a pre-order system.

My guess is that there's a shortage of some part,maybe something as trivial as a I/O plate.
Tonight they made a decision to get what they had out to people to at least satisfy some and thats a good thing.
Remember, EVGA is a business and wants to make money.
If they had them ready, they'd sell them ASAP.
Last point I want to make is I've had a prerelease board,rev.1 running since March 14th and it's solid as a rock.
I've taken it to 4500 on air, broken 22 in CB 11.5 and the machine is a joy to use.
I've run it 24/7 for almost 2 months at 100% load and not one hiccup Patience guys, this is the real deal and worth the wait.

It's post's like this that make the wait so long.  Two months of hearing about the certain few with boards breaking World Records left and right and how awesome the board is.  A few less post's like these could only help to make the waiting easier lol..

Movieman is simply a huge SMP guy. He knows the likes of Kingpin,Fugger, Shamino, etc. His board was a gift from Shamino. He posted all kinds of info about the board and his use of it over on the XS site.

Congrats to the folks who were able to order the world's best workstation motherboard!

I decided earlier in the week to delay (but not cancel) my purchase plans for a month or two and pursue another project, I'm sure by then I won't have a problem getting the board or the second FTW card I was after.

I can't wait to start seeing build logs and real world benches on this thing!

Maybe this post by MM on the XS forums will shed some light on why he received this motherboard:

send one I was still surprised when it arrived.

Dual-socket market for enthusiasts isn't really small, but it is compared to the tens of millions of i55x0 boards sold without overclocking or as many PCIe slots.  Intel initially planned a 2,000-unit run of their Skulltrail (i5400 chipset) yet ended up with more than ten times as much.  It wouldn't suprised me if EVGA were to somehow garner all those customers which is higher than their initial E759 Classified run; such high demand will cause shortages.

As for die-hard fans, they are that way because they choose to be, EVGA isn't responsible for them or owe them anything; no company does.  It is absurd that those members are having hissyfits like begging our parents to get us a toy in the store by making a scene.  Furthermore, I've never understood this race to be first BS.

I wouldn't be surprised if the price of the SR-2 goes up.  If you read the EVGA forums most people bought their components already.  Since most expected the board to release late March early April.  They are gonna jerk us around cause they know most of are sitting on 2X expensive server chips and SR-2 only cases.  We were setup like bowling pins by EVGA.  I was a loyal AMD/ASUS customer for over 15 years until I saw this board.  Once I get this board (at what cost unknown) Ill lick my wounds and never deal with EVGA again.
