The middle fan reports spikes of 800,000 RPMs then drops back down to zero constantly. Anyone else having this issue? My friend has made a YouTube video documenting the issue.

In the quick changing GPU world, this might be old news.  In the YouTube video he's using Precision 1.1.2, where as 1.1.3.1 is out now (don't use version 1.1.3 on the download page due to a profile crashing bug).  Please test with version version 1.1.3.1 and remove the [No Solution] from the title if it ends up fixing the problem.

The majority of the YouTube video posted by the OP is simply fan sensor reporting issues with 3rd party apps.  EVGA can't be expected to directly control that, can they?

Even with all programs uninstalled and using the cards own bios/firmware the fan still start/stops. He is at work right now and just saw that a new Precision was released. The new version dropped right after he posted the video. He will be trying this out when he can. My friend installed the card and booted up the latest version (at the time) of Precision before any other OC app. He was testing other software to see if the problem was Precision itself. Different software presented different outcomes, none of them ideal.

I wasn't asking EVGA to control third party apps but simply seeing if anyone had experienced this as well. Obviously he would remove No Solution if he found one, which is why I'm here. Are you like, an EVGA PR rep or something?

Are you asking if I'm like a PR rep, or are you asking if I am a PR rep?  I am neither.

I meant no offense.  I was just saying the 800,000 RPM nonsense is just 3rd party issues.  1.1.3.1 seems to be fixing the fan curve issues, early reports anyway.

It's not just third party issues on a fresh install of windows before even attempting to alter anything with the card at stock settings.

Precision was where we initially recorded the RPM fluctuations. Certainly not third party software.

Yes I understand what you're saying. I was just saying that Precision itself doesn't report 800k RPM speeds. The middle fan speed is a known issue they hopefully can be controlled properly by 1.1.3.1.

Ok well you can actually watch my friends video instead of skimming and see for yourself Precision reporting 800k. I appreciate the response about the new version but why try and help without actually getting all the details?

Latest version of Precision and the latest card firmware did not fix this issue.

Just wanted to pop in and give everyone an update on to whats going on so far. Still having the issue when I set the fan speed above 50% Beginning to think it's a hardware issue.

12-14-2020 - 10:00 pm - I filled out a support ticket with EVGA detailing the bug and included a link to this video. Still waiting to hear back.
12-15-2020 - 4:10 pm - So after this video was released, new versions of Precision X1 have been released. I have so far tested v which DID include a firmware update, but did not fix the bug I posted here.
12-15-2020 - 4:20 pm - I tested the fans at multiple RPMs and the problem only seems to occur when the middle fan is trying to go over 50%. Setting the fan to 49% speed I didn't get the 800,000 RPM spikes but I did still get random RPM drops to 0, but going to 50% reproduced the bug as seen in the video. 12-15-2020 - 7:55 pm - I have continued testing the middle fan at different RPMs and I was unable to reproduce the RPM drops I talked about above if I set the fan to 49% or under, but setting the fan to 51% I immediately get the drops again. Nvida driver 460.89 just came out, so I will update the driver and see what happens.
    12-15-2020 - 8:21 pm - Nvida driver 460.89 didn't fix the issue.
    12-16-2020 - 9:13 pm - Precision X1 Version didn't work. Still haven't heard back from EVGA.

I had a similar issue and upon describing it the response was an RMA number. I wish it was the software because I really hate that I just spent 200€ to send bad product back but it’s not.

My worry now is what if the RMA behaves similarly. Because in 1-2 more RMAs I might as well keep the card as a paperweight and buy something else.

Yes RMA will perform exactly the same 3/3 of mine did.

Did you have a card with red lips or the new black ones?

My problem was not just the irregular ups and downs of the fans but also the black screens with fans revving and ultimately the card possibly dying since as of the last time I used it it was stuck at 10fps

RmA may fix black screen issue but not the fan revving uncontrollable.

I can relate to your negative sentiment having just paid 230 euro to ship the card to Germany which is basically a joke, I mean what if the next card is problematic?

However I like to think that as many many cards have been sold by now and theres only a handful of posts with problems, the problem is not as exaggerated as we think. It still affects a large number of customers but who knows maybe we get lucky on round 2.

Either way even fixing the black screens will be enough for me the constant crashing was just too much.

Good luck to all with their cards new or RMAd.
