Without any overclock @idle GPU-210Mhz Memory-405Mhz Voltage-669mV
In the normal profile I see that the fans do not start running and the card reaches up to 50C @ idle. Previous EVGA 2060 KO card would idle around 35-40 max
Tried switching the button to the OC profile and I see the same behavior.
Wasn't the OC bios supposed to disabled the 0DB fan profile?
I prefer my cards to idle at <40C and turning on the MSI afterburner fan profile achieves this with the fans running at around 300rpm which are silent
But I do not want to have to run afterburner or precision X1 just for the fan profiles.
Is the behavior I'm seeing on the OC profile normal where it keeps the 0DB fans?
Bios info from GPU-Z
Normal Bios - 94.04.46.40.7F
OC Bios - 94.04.46.40.80
Also with Heaven benchmark I get
194FPS average on normal bios
171FPS average on OC bios
Temps while gaming are fine 60-70C

Sounds not to far off normal. 3070 is definitely going to run a bit hotter than a 2060.

If you are anal about the temp and want it lower, ditch the stock TIM and apply some quality TIM. There are conflicting methods of applying TIM. Some use the 'pea' method, 'line method, or spread. I truly believe spreading an even thin film/layer is best. That allows for more even heat dissipation across the die. If the CPU lid and CPU cooler base were perfectly flat and mated, no TIM would be required. But that is near impossible. So a thin layer of heat conducting material is required to fill in minute imperfections on the two surfaces.

This would be my last resort as this is a brand new card. My main concern is with the OC/normal profiles button which according to EVGA
    Normal- fans 0rpm below 55C @ idle
OC - fans will spin disabling the 0db/rpm profile @ idle from the normal mode < this is what I want >
I'm not seeing this behavior when switching the button position and also rebooting the PC power off/on
Tried installing the latest precision which did a firmware update supposedly for the fans/rgb no change as well

If you have auto fan control on, even the oc bios doesn't spin the fans, but as soon as i turned off auto fan, all 3 went to 33%.

It's likely shutting the fans off at idle and only turning them on once it hits low 50s.  This is normal behavior and extends the fan life as well as minimizes  dust. Nothing is wrong with the card.

I'm assuming you are talking about PX1, all you are doing here is setting a manual profile for the fans at 33%. What I'm talking about is hardware control of the fans which is done by the card without needing to set anything on PX1. It should change from passive fans off to active fans on when you switch the button to the OC side. On my card this is not the case.

I agree according to EVGA info on their website if idle fans are off until temps hit 55C. However when you have the button on the OC mode this setting should be turned off and the fans will start keeping the card around 35C. This info matches what I see from this post  . However my OC bios is not doing that. All I want to verify is if the card has the right OC bios which does not look like it does. It seems to have a different version of the normal bios.
I posted the 2 versions that GPU-Z shows for the 2 bios on the card if anyone can confirm what the right version for the OC one is that would be amazing.
    Thank you

just got my 3797 gpu few days ago.. on normal bios all fans are off (as should be) until
reaching 50-55 c ... then all turning on ... With  oc bios all fans stay on and runs the gpu
10c cooler at idle... haven't tested benches yet ,but getting ready to ...
humbe , maybe someone will check bios versions for you soon, as I have different card...

Thank you that confirms it. I contacted EVGA support and the rep told me I probably have the normal bios in the OC position too. He said they will be getting the OC bios so it can be flashed but he did not have it . Supposedly he made a request for it on and linked my account to it so I would hear from them with an email or a call soon.
Still if anyone can confirm the OC BIOS number for the 3070 ftw3 ultra that would be great so I can get it online.
Techpowerup has a collection of bios but it does not say which is the OC version.
