This happens within 10 seconds of entering the world in WoW. It also happened while playing other games. Does not happen while on the desktop. My temps are 40c idle 55-60c under load (as far as I can tell). I've done a clean install of the latest nvidia drivers and I have also tried underclocking from stock speeds but to no avail. My card is far out of warranty I just want confirmation that it's probably the video card and maybe a recommendation on a new one. Been running the same setup for 2 years and haven't changed anything other than your standard driver/windows updates.

I saw crazy artifacts like that happening from RAM that didn't have the appropriate voltage settings for the desired speed, especially if it's the enthusiast kind.  You might wanna check this before you get a new card.

I should of added that I haven't changed anything since it started happening so it would be very odd for my ram voltage to just change like that. I will check this out though.

Just a shot in the dark here but it looks like VRAM issue.

It's either your card or your ram, ram is tested easily since it's build into some/most OS's, do that first?

I had the same screen show up with my GTX280. At first it would only happen once in a while, then it started to happen every time I tried to play a game.

Had to RMA my card. They sent me the same model card for my RMA. The new card has been working fine for over 2 weeks now.

I want to thank EVGA, it's nice to see a company stand behind their products.

That's the classic issue which happens from weak solder joints.

Same thing just happened to me. I was using SLI. Had to move my secondary card up and now my system is fine. Looks like its time to send it in. I probably use this as an excuse to upgrade. Just haven't decided on a 580 or 2 560 This. Hmmm

vram.  Your card is toast.  You can try sticking it in the oven.  If you're the original owner of an evga card, warranty is still good.

Ps:  don't stick it in the oven if it's an evga card, just rma it

So let me ask the community... and my intention is not to hijack this thread.... BUT...... I have RMA'd (4) 9800gx2's, one RMA being dead on arrival.... got upgraded to a gtx 280 which i just RMA'd along with the mobo (an EVGA 780i) I've replaced the RAM and upgraded the power supply during the 9800gx2 RMA's.... So i'm not sure why these things are failing... I do not OC.... and i do not do a ton of gaming on it... I'm mostly into Photoshopping and Video editing.... Just wondering what you guys think about that and if you have any suggestions.... I do have dual 23" monitors running at 1920 res.....

PS... Do you guys leave your computer on 24/7 or shut it down and start up when needed?

    Thanks

How is the quality of your AC line, possible low or high voltage pikes or brown outs.  All those components failing I would tend to lean at the electricial line quality. Over time it can damage the machine. Do you have failing other components in your house like TV's, VCR, Frig. ect. If you do I would have an Electrician take a look at your service.

I always turn off my computer at night.

Update: I recieved 2 replacement GTX280's now, both had the same problem as my original.

I'm getting the feeling that the warranty is useless. And a real pain, removing the card, installing a different cad (so I can use my computer while I wait for the replacement), sending the card back for RMA, waiting for the replacement, installing it again....
Only to have the same problem show up. And doing this repeatedly.

Guess it's time to get a new card.

I was reading somewhere that the problems were related to Mobos not being compatible with certain card models, sadly I haven't posted enough to have the priviledge to post links, it is on the Nvidia forums.

This card has been a curse ever since I got it, it is all Nvidia's drivers fault.

I tried it in 2 different systems (motherboards), same results...
