I am getting ready to build my core i7 system. I have a 920 D0 cpu and a 6GB kit of Corsair TR3X6G1600C8 ram. I am looking at purchasing the microATX EVGA 121-BL-E756-TR motherboard. Are there any issues with this mobo and the ram that I have purchased? Also will the x58 oc guide work for this mobo also?

    Welcome to the fourms man

The X58 E-756 Micro Has had a great track record with most of the users on here that own them, and there are no distiguishable issues with this board either for that matter.

Yes the OC guide will work in relation to the "X58 Micro" as well since all of the X58 have the same BIOS settings accept for the E-759 and E-762. any issues you might have OC'ing it can be ironed out on here, so dont fret its a good buy.

Those are XMS3 sticks, and they should be fine. I'm running 3x of them right testing in my blue rig.

X58 Micros, like all X58s run hot on the VREGs and Northbridge. You will want good airflow in your case.

Thanks for the info. I have a case with very good airflow. It is one of the mountain mod ufo cases. Would you recommend pulling the chipset and vreg coolers and replacing the stock thermal paste/tape with as ceramique or mx-1? I have a couple of 40mm fans that are tie-wrapped to the NB cooler on my current mobo. Should I do the same with mobo? Also any known issues with large cpu coolers such as the TRUE?

40-60-80mm fans will help (whatever fits). But why would you get a Micro board if you have a huge case?

You can re-do the thermal paste (many would recommend it), but I would not replace thermal pads if that's the VREGs use (My 758 uses pads, and I think a lot of the board use pads for the VREGs).

I was looking for the best board in my price range. It just happened to be a micro board. It doesn't matter to me if it is standard atx or a micro atx. The best board in the $210 and under range was this one or an asus gene both of which are micro boards but both are supposed to great board for oc'ing.

Well, the Micro is not bad but definitely not the best for $210. The P6T SE is probably a better board, but I would not buy from Asus. Gigabyte also has better boards for $200.

Micro boards are built for size, not for consideration of cost.

The EVGA X58 SLI LE is a better board too if you're not going to be running 2x graphics cards.

another problem with the board is that it a two year warrant not a lifetime, perhaps saving thirty or so bucks on it,

TBH I really only look at warranties if they are less than a year. I am one of the tech-heads that doesn't go 2 years without upgrading. I had looked at the asus gene but I have had bad experience with asus support. I supposed gigabyte has some good boards out but I had a really bad experience with one of their p35 mobo's and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I know I need to forget about and judge based on the current mobo's but it is easier said than done. I have also been working on the designs for a custom case that I want to build and I think the mATX would work better in it.

Nothing wrong with that... I do not buy Asus, Gigabyte or MSI. I simply do not support companies that have poor or non-existent end user communications. Here, EVGA communicates directly to the customer and operates these boards for troubleshooting. High end boards also have life-time warranties. I have a 758 and a 760... That's over $700 of motherboard right there, that I wouldn't give to any other company (and if EVGA declined, I would stop building computers period).

I have some sinks I can put on the vregs. I have a couple of 40mm fans I can use for cooling. I also have an unused hr-05 sli chipset cooler. Will it fit this board?

Yes, HR-05 should fit fine, but the hr05-SLI version may depend on your CPU HSF.

Thanks for all of the info. I haven't had an evga board since the 680i sli days. I will have it in my hands tomorrow afternoon. I will post some results here with it.
