I have the e758 and im going to pair it with this 4 bay external enclosure

I know the JMicron controller does not support port multiplying but do the internal black sata connectors that are on the ich10r support it?

I could't get a clear answer via search.

Actually the intel chipset does not support it. The Jmicron port should, however its not officially supported or guaranteed to work.

Alright thanks Matthew, i'll take my chances with the jmicron esata port if not there's always an expansion card

googled the jmicro chip on the e758
and brought up this spec page from jmicron

    http://www.jmicron.com/JMB363.html

in short it supports up to 4 storage devices, per chip with a max of two devices per sata port. the e758 has two 363 chips with 4 physical ports with support for up to 8 devices, two per port

if i understood the bullets correctly that means my 4 bay external will only be able to use 2 bays because of the 363's bottleneck

    Hi,

I am looking at doing the same exact thing using the same external enclosure and same motherboard. Have you had any success with your attempt? Did you figure out how to enable PM support on the intel controller (the intel support pages have contradictory statements on ich10r PM support)? Did a RAID 5 configuration on the external mediasonic unit show up when plugged into the JMicron eSATA port?

    Thanks!
