Ok seriously? What the heck kind of drones are they talking about? Star Wars drones? Or just cameras installed on the streety?

Yah I figured if they were going to use military intelligence they would have mentioned "army" in there instead of just saying drones. Reason I was curious to know if they had some non military type drone they were talking about.

Depends how much California wants to pay for one, or should I say, go further into debt.

Maybe they already had it planned, Hey, They're already deployed.... Why not keep it for "OUR SAFETY"? Might as well get another 10,000 drones to protect ALL of california!! Yes, That's the answer!

    Now it all adds up....

You're obviously pretty gullible if you think drones with weapons operate domestically. Seattle just tried to get a bill passed that would have allowed them to operate two mini drones with cameras on them, but it went up in flames due to massive public backlash. You're extremely gullible if you think police can legally murder a fugitive, even killing a terrorist oversea's who is an American citizen is possibly illegal.

As rudster stated, in no way would drones be permitted to outright murder a citizen.  I'm more interested in seeing how law enforcement justifies/explains opening fire on two innocent women delivering newspapers.  Multiple sources state, "There was no warning. There were no orders. No commands. Just gunshots."

Considering the police twice opened up on the wrong vehicles with NO warning or anything, a blatant attempt to just kill the guy wouldn't you think?

Who exactly is the gullible one here?

    Come on folks, be informed

Armed/Unarmed drones have been active in US airspace for 10 years under both Homeland security, DOD, intelligence and Border patrol (among others) ....
Many state and local law enforcement are using weapons capable drone platforms as well.

How can you discuss such matters without understanding the facts is beyond me.

Take a look at the 2:20 mark (and this is "older tech") is what is flying around today all over the world and right here in the US. Realtime tracking of hundreds of targets... what is shown is low res optical, some these units can resolve to 12cm or less and others use using radar are getting close as well....
*if you carry a cell phone or other device (when the elint is on) your name will go with the little box

As is always the case, the number of high end platforms is very limited and the number of capable "directors" can be counted on one hand. As such our hardware and personal are directed elsewhere, but this -is- coming and will be commonplace in a few years. For "some" critical locations in the U.S., this is live right now -with- the elint functioning....

With NDAA it is possible for them to do this. But the public probably wouldn't have a clue if they decided to take action like that.

Re:Drones now authorized to find and possibly kill ex-cop Chris Dorner 2013/02/12 14:57:37 (permalink)
Lets be clear here. Drones were only recently authorized and delivered to the Border Patrol last year, and none of them are armed. All police & counties that operate drones are also not armed.

The only way they could use an armed drone to kill this guy is if they use a military drone, but I highly doubt they will open that can of worms. Instead I'm sure they'll just locate and track while they chopper in a squad within a few minutes.

Also, the FAA has a list of authorized sites & drone licenses that's publicly available. There's around 100 launch sites and over 300 authorized groups.... most of them are police departments, counties, and universities.
