Yeah! Im at my girlfriends house right now but im running home to teste it an then post my feedback here. My motherboard its a sabertooth 990fx r2... Gonna check if it hás any similarity with yours

Just a heads up; im running Driver 344.11 Not 344.16 as I need backward compatibility with my old GTX 650.  344.16 is for 9xx gpus only.

Did you completely un-install PhysX?

I was unable to un-install PhysX from the Add Remove Programs, even when I did uninstall it there, it did not remove it from my NVIDIA Corporation Folder.  I had to run the PhysX_9.14.0702_SystemSoftware executable, when prompted, I clicked Remove/Uninstall and it wiped it from my machine.  If Your not sure if its uninstalled, Launch GPUz and see if PhysX is unselected.

Ouch, already change gpus :'(

Thanks but wont try again... the gpu should be working correctly independent of existing physx or not. I know thats a workaround (and a awesome one to try out) but im gonna wait for a new one. a normal version but at least, and hopefully, will work haha

Thanks a lot!

Lets us know if youre all good to go with a new GPU.

Hey friends. I was having some issues as well. I have 2 evga gtx 980 SCs in SLI. Running 344.16 resulted in invisible Titans in Titanfall followed by crashes every time. Went back to 344.11 and Titanfall ran great...BUT randomly crashed with the blue screen of death saying hardware issue. The blue screen was happening CONSISTENTLY in Crysis3 even with 344.11. It would crash literally within 3-5mins of gameplay. I tried the PhysX move by erikdfier and presto, Crysis3 maxed out at a sexy 70-130fps for the last 30mins.
I right-clicked the desktop, went to Nvidia Control Panel, changed PhysX settings to CPU and clicked Apply. I did not try to uninstal PhysX (although I'm not sure if that's what I may have done through those steps).

Thats great Marin007, glad to see your up and running again.

Indeed, if people are experiencing these driver crashes, they should set physx to cpu in the control panel, its effectivly shutting off gpu physx, so they dont have to uninstall the drivers. (As I did) to just diagnose the driver crash.

Lets hope this physx problem is remedied quickly with a new driver / physx update and hopefully not 980 specific hardware issues.

It's a shame we have to do this but I guess it's the price we pay for having brand new, hard to get cards. I also have not overclocked.

So what is the definitive answer to this, is it hardware or drivers?
eVGA suggested to take mine back, but if it's not hardware what's the point.

I've not done 12 runs of Metro LL Redux with Advance PhysX on and PhysX set to the GPU, not a single crash,  nor did I have to increase the power limit.
Ran a custom fan profile so the card didn't throttle.

Set PhysX back to CPU and I get the crash unless I increase the power limit.
It's just so strange.

There is a serious flaw in the new drivers for the GTX980

After having my brand new GTX980 crash in Metro Last Light Redux with Advanced PhysX on, I set out to find the problem.
Turns out some games don't actually crash, the PhysX items remain stationary or bug out.
Setting the PhysX to CPU in the nvidia control panel fixes the issue.

Run Batman AO with PhysX set to your GPU, you'll find that none of the PhysX items move.

If you set it back to the CPU, PhysX items move properly.

Please excuse the low quality, but you get the picture:

Re: Driver stopped responding and recovered errors with my EVGA GTX 980 SC on default cloc 2014/10/05 11:48:14 (permalink)
Hello guys, after researching via google I found this thread as I have been having these issues, not with an EVGA card but I own the MSI gtx 980 gaming 4g card.

After reading about the possible physx problem I decided to give that a shot and so far this seems like the issue, for me at least.

I have been testing the metro redux benchmark for hours and hours to fix the problem and this is what seems to happen :
Metro running on lowest settings with physx set to gpu = crash
Metro running on lowest settings with physx off = no crash at the moment, benched it for the full 99 times lol
Metro running on the lowest settings with physx set to CPU = no crash at the moment, also benched it for the 99 times

These results also are the same for the highest settings, so it seems turning physx off or putting it to "CPU" fixed the problem for me at least and there seems to be a physx glitch, I have also changed the power limit % and this doesn't seem to change anything.

I just wanted to provide my input after reading this thread last night and hope it helps.

Steve12321 Glad to see more reports of this issue; however it certainly sucks that its happening in the first place, though with first edition hardware and drivers its not surprising. Btw, I saw your reference here in the Nvidia drivers forum and I chimed in as well.

This is also happening to my two  980 Superclockeds, which are in SLI and powering 3x Dell U2412M 1200p monitors. I'm only getting it very sporadically in desktop mode, when working (programming). Mind you haven't had much time to play any games since I got them so could also be happening there.

Am looking forward to driver updates to hopefully resolve this.

I also have a GTX 980 which I purchased from Scan. Been getting the exact same error since the last 6 weeks. Was fine before that. I have a Corsair 1050W PSU, been monitoring it on HWMonitor seems fine. The issue roughly started when I installed a new water cooler for my CPU. Though I fail to see the connection. I have over the last few days been getting intermittent CPU fan has failed on boot. Again it seems to point to the PSU yet it seems to be working fine according to HWMonitor. Been in touch with Scan and have started an RMA process, but would still like to exhaust all posibilities before I send it back. My old GTX 580 ran flawlessly, never once crashed. Maybe the OC is unstable on these EVGA cards?
