Does the x58 SLI support 8GB RAM Modules?  I'm getting a deal on a 3x8GB (24GB) RAM kit and was wondering if the x58 will recognize the RAM.  Has anyone tried it yet?

hey negativebeef to respond to your question to the x58 mobo, if im not mistaken the only mobo in the x58 line that supports 24 gigs or ram is the classified one. i have the orginal x58 sli 3way sli mobo and the max it suports is 12 gigs of ram. im running 12 gigs of corsair vengeance 1600's. you can go 3x4 sticks, or 6x2 sticks and so on but 12 is the max.

Hi, according to the manual it supports up to 24GB or RAM.  It doesn't say if it supports 8GB modules or not.

12 GB is NOT the max.  I'm running 6 4 GB sticks of Corsair DDR3 with no problems on the X58 SLI.  My buddy also has one and is running 3 8GB sticks.  As far as I know, no problems.

My Mobo's model number is EVGA E758-A1.  I just confirmed again that this board supports 24GB of RAM but unfortunately I can't post links.

So it DOES support 8GB sticks then?  Is your friend using the regular x58 or the Classified?

hey, this is great news for me in lots of ways, i have the x58 mobo and i did buy a corsair 24 gig set of ram but i cant get the pc to boot with all 6 sticks in it. i looked around read manuels and checked evga pages and i kept seeing that it only supported max 12 gigs unles you have the classified mobo. i would love to know if he had to do something in the bios to get it to take all 24 gigs. i have three brand new sticks looking at me on my desk and its sort of depressing. thanks for the info upfront and the help i would kill to have all 6 sticks in there.

My buddy is running the same board I am, the X58 SLi (758)

@killabee98 All I did was plug em in, set the timings and volts. You might check your ram divider to make sure they are at or below spec, depending on your OC.  Also, on my other pc, if I dont manually set the volts, it won't boot at all and I have to clear the cmos.  24 GB Showed up on first boot and I've not had any problems that I didn't create ( my sticks won't do 1 mhz over 1600 no matter how much juice I pump in em)  I am running the 77 bios.

I just got 3 x 8 GB and would like to confirm that this board does indeed support 24GB.  It had no problem recognizing the 8GB sticks and I'm on bios 83.
