Custom 140mm Radiator Shrouds

Part of my next case project includes fabricating some shrouds for 140x4 and 140x3 radiators:






 
I cranked out a pair of these shrouds this afternoon from .25 x 1.25-inch aluminum flat bar. 










These heavy duty shrouds have no equal.

    Why is the material so thick?  I could understand the thickness if it were to accommodate space to have fan attaching hardware screw into it, but it doesn't do that either.

    No, actually its because the thicker material allows for broader tolerances when drilling.
