First I should say that this is my first gaming rig. I built her in March of this year, without any real care as to how it looked. I mean I wanted the cable management to be clean, and I bought the nicest looking case I could find -- but I wasn't willing to spend much time on the aesthetics. Fast forward to September and I've become obsessed with making my rig neater, cleaner... I started out by tidying up my cables, making them less of a focal point. (Yes, I realize it looks awful, I was oblivious to it before) Well then, naturally, I wanted to actually *see* my components, so I took out the mesh on the side panel, got some acrylic, and installed a side window. Sometime soon after I learned about cable sleeving. I figured I might as start with my 24 pin atx connector . Took a while but worth it. I got some blue cold cathodes too. Sleeved the chipset fan too: About this time I realized that (1) my cable management actually kind of sucked, and (2) my case's insides were grey! A couple rigs here on EVGA really inspired me, especially azma's (in the Cable Management Rating game thread). So I decided I'd tear up my Cosmos S, paint it black, and cut out some cable management holes. Which is where I should have started, considered my thread title. Unfortunately I forgot to take some before pictures, but you didn't miss anything exiting. Anyway, this is the bare metal chassis painted black with some cable management holes cut out: (while the paint is somewhat textured, the camera really exaggerates it with the flash) I cut out holes for the 24 pin atx, PCIe, SATA, fans, and front panel. And most noticeably, a hole to make un/installing the CPU heatsink a heck of a lot easier. I'm hoping this hole will not need to be modified with my next motherboard upgrade. This is with some u-channel I got from frozencpu: With 3/4 handle bars installed: Top with the mesh: And finally with all the components installed and running. I didn't have enough spray paint to finish the two doors on the front, but I sanded them down anyway. I like the contrast, but I'm thinking I'll probably paint them black later on. The 24 pin atx into the grommet: Before: After: Thanks for looking! Any and all feedback is very much appreciated... please post comments, criticism, suggestions... -Martin

The 10-20-09 update: Ok small update. I painted the two front doors black. I'm pretty happy with it. Thoughts? Oh and I also put the mesh in front of the acrylic for fun. Now that the huge fan and filter isn't there, I can see my components fairly well. And this is with just one CCFL (I took some out of mine for my brother's comp, check out Glowing Initials link in sig). What do you think?

Impressive rig. Great cable management. If i were on your place i chose chrome effect silver paint to painting handle bars (making good contrast) and front doors. However, like i write - great job man. There is a lot huge space inside case. Maybe You have thinking about installing water cooling.

Re: mesh, it was held in by a plastic frame that held the fan. I just took the frame and mesh out, cut and drilled the acrylic, and screwed it in. Later on I put the mesh in between the side panel and acrylic.

I gotta say, that I love what you've done with the case. I've got a Cosmos S as well, and I love it. I also have the same PSU, and Corsair service is second to none. I have to ask though - being that the PSU isn't modular, where did you hide the extra cables?? I'm having one helluva time trying to hide the excess. There isn't alot of room between the motherboard tray, and the side panel, so I've just been stuffing the excess into an unused drive bay - hardly pleasing at all for esthetic reasons - not to mention airflow. It's definitely a nice case airflow wise, just due to the sheer size of the thing, but I'd really like to do a much better job at cable management, and I don't have the first idea where to start.

Papamambo: this thread from the old forums seems to be exactly what you're looking for: Cosmos S Cable Mangement. This was my contribution: Crys1s_Gam3r ... If you don't want to do any modding, here's some quick tips: 1. The space underneath the last drive bay is great for stashing unused cables. Fold the cables nicely then use a twist or zip tie to keep it compact. Push them back as far as possible without feeling like you're "kinking" the cable. 2. There's two stock cable management holes next to the power supply; Use the bottom one as little as possible, and then only for thinner cables. Use the top one for the thicker 24 pin, the bar that holds on the back side panel doesn't block it. 3. PCIe cables... those are tough to make look good. Zip tie them together and then maybe tie them to a sata cable (not with too much tension). See if you can run it along with the sata cables. 4. Try folding the sata cables 90, so they go down. I think it would look nice with the PCIe running with it. Just a thought. 5. 8 pin CPU atx... again a tough one. As you can see in my original pic (the one you posted), I didn't do a great job with that. I suggest running it along the sata/pci cables, then between the GPU and motherboard, then up into the 8 pin port. 6. Fans can fit nicely underneath the motherboard itself, as you can see in the pic above. (top right corner of mobo) 7. Don't be afraid to let some cables from the PSU flow along the side of the tray (as seen in pic above). 8. Oh and for the sata power connectors... I use the adapters that came with the x58 mobo rather than the PSU cable. Thinner, black, and less ugly. And one less cable that has to go behind the motherboard tray. As for the back of the case.... 1. The space between the case and side panel is thickest at the drive bays, this is where the 24 pin should curve. You can get away with bundling the smaller cables and tying them down there as well. 2. Where it isn't thick, keep cables taught and tie them down close to the openings. 3. The front panel ports fit without a problem behind the motherboard tray in the thin part; apart from the esata cable, curve it along the back and to the top opening. 4. Don't be afraid to push firmly when it's time to close the back side panel. I'm sorry that I don't have any pictures of the back of the mobo tray with all the cables. Check out the cable management rating game thread in the mods rigs section for some inspiration. Also... it will take time and possibly a few start agains, but just be patient with it, take a few breaks if want (or a nap). And come back with a fresh outlook. Good luck. Let me know if you want some more info on tidying up cables in this beast of a case
